Cashless transactions

Bringing cash nowadays, specially in large amounts, is tantamount to asking for trouble. For some reason, robbers, snatchers and all kinds of goons can sniff the smell of bills inside your bag or wallet. If they have the smelling tactics of hounds, we really cannot tell. But for those who have experienced getting robbed, you would know what I mean.

Back in 2004, I got robbed near the metro railway (MRT). It was in Panay Avenue, early in the morning as I was rushing to the office. I was walking at the sidewalk, when all of a sudden, my bag got hooked on something. I thought it got hooked on a speeding car. I carefully turned around to see what happened when I saw a man on a motorcycle pulling my bag away. I was shocked and he took that momentary weakening on my part. He pulled my bag and sped off. Fortunately, a lot of good samaritans were there that morning. They ran after the robber and called the police. The robber was apprehended and I was able to get back my bag. It contained three thousand pesos. That’s a lot for me.

From then on I stopped bringing that much cash with me. I just make sure I have enough for my transportation expenses and some extra money in case of emergency. I just bring with me my credit card in case I think I might go out with friends.

Almost all establishments now accept credit cards. Even in some tiangge, they now have credit card services. When you see an establishment who has not yet incorporated credit card payments in their system, do talk to them about the advantages of getting a credit card machine, so they can start processing credit card payments and thereby ensuring their customers’ safety, specially if we’re talking of big amount of transactions here.

Remember to ensure your safety always.

Good reminder! And there I was being grateful that I don’t have a credit card so I wouldn’t be tempted to use it in every way I can but reading your post reminded me that it does have its advantages. Kaso lang ayaw pa din nila ko iapprove hahaha
