Organize your garden

main-markers-spread2.jpg

Few people know that my dad loves gardening. He discovered this when he stopped working to concentrate full time in our family business. During his free days, he would tinker around the pocket garden we have at home and surprisingly, he was able to grow some plants. As dad’s gardening is a hobby, he tends to forget which plant is which. He would put a plant to the left, transfer one to the other side and would get confused as to what plant was it. So I thought he would probably benefit from a garden marker.

You see, a garden marker is used to label a plant. It would be great to be able to identify what flower was planted where. My dad is into growing flowers now. I saw this plant label when I passed by a covered walk in my alma mater and I immediately imagine putting some in my dad’s pocket garden at home. He can put plant stakes in his new project. Before, it annoys us that we can’t even go sit near the garden. But now, we all let him be, especially when I read that gardening is good for the heart.

You might be looking for garden markers or plant labels yourself. You can get one at MetalGardenMarkers.com and go put one on that plant. Check out the site now for more information.

When my friend got married almost a year ago, I saw her prepare for it and panicked on last minute little additions to the wedding plan. It added so much stress to her already stressed out mind and body. I now know that had she hired someone to take care of all the details of the wedding including the little ones that she had no time to oversee, it would have been a smooth pre-wedding preparation for her.

In Miami Weddings, everything can be taken cared of for you. The #1 Wedding Source has everything, including flowers, favors, centerpieces, caterers and everything you can think of in a wedding. The vendors listed in this directory service are on the list of the best wedding vendors. If you are preparing for a wedding and would like to relinquish the reins to someone who is expert in the wedding preparation field, then go get an event planner and they can do everything for you. A Miami Wedding will never be complete without lots and lots of flowers. If you want one in your wedding as well, go get a florist and tell them the flowers that you like to have in your wedding.

Feeding the baby

TommeeTippeeA lot of moms prefer to breastfeed their newborn babies. Studies say that breast milk is still the best for babies. Breast milk is the perfect source of nutrition for infants. And they even say that breast milk can help strengthen a newborn baby’s immune system. But what if breastfeeding is a problem for you?

Like for example, you are working and of course you cannot breast feed your baby at work. How about using a baby feeding bottle but still with your breast milk? There are breast pumps that can be bought as well as breast milk containers and lids that can be bought at TommeeTippee.co.uk at affordable prices.

Tommee Tippee is a store for parents and babies. They are an advocate of breast feeding but is very practical as well because not all moms can stay at home and breast feed their baby whenever the latter cries for it. Let’s face it, most moms need to work because of the increasing cost of living these days. And there are even single moms out there struggling to make ends meet. These moms are the ones who need to use bottle feeding to be able to feed their baby even when they are out of the house.

Tommee Tippee understands the need of parents and babies. Breast milk can be pumped from the mother’s breasts using a Closer to Nature Freedom breast pump. Then the pumped milk can then be stored using Closer to Nature milk storage lids. All of these products can be bought at TommeeTippee.co.uk at affordable prices.

If you are a parent or knows a parent with a new born baby, I suggest you go to Tommee Tippee now and see how feeding your child can become easier for you.

Weekend Snapshot #16 - Baguio City revisited

My sisters Vi, Rox and I went to Baguio City last weekend. We went there to tour the city because my sister Vi hadn’t been there and to attend my bestfriend’s wedding as well.

We stayed at a hotel at Session Road, the Prime Hotel. The hotel is clean and is strategically located. It is very near restaurants and fastfood chains. You only have to cross the street and you’d be at the foot of the Baguio Cathedral. You only need to walk about 3-5 minutes and you’re in SM Baguio already. Walk about 3 minutes and you’ll be at the Burnham Park.

Anyway, here are some photos from our Baguio trip… (please click on the photo to enlarge it for a better view)

The Bell Church at the boundary of La Trinidad province

I really love this place! It is a Chinese Buddhist temple and it is very lovely and serene. You will notice that the place has sort of a lesson being imparted by means of the steps up the highest chapel. You can choose between two steps/paths: a rocky path or a smooth path. The rocky one is sort of the less used steps but turns out to be the easiest steps to climb. The other one is the complete opposite. Sometimes it is better to take the road less traveled. Hmm…

My sisters and I had taking so many photos at this place.

We had fun picking strawberries at the farm :)

Minesview Park (I suggest you enlarge this photo, you won’t regret it ;)

We feasted our eyes with this magnificent view at Minesview Park. It is really cold there that time and we took a lot of photos as well.

There you go. I will post more photos in the coming days… Have a fun week everyone!

Gifts with love

Lilliput Lane
Frog Hall Limited Edition - Lilliput Lane

There is something magical and inspiring in giving someone a gift with love. It matters not the price tag of the gift. It doesn’t even matter if it is big or small. What is important is that the gift was well thought of, something that comes from the heart of the giver. A gift that you know was given to you with love and affection.

A friend of mine loves collecting display pieces, meaning, those things that she can put on display like figurines, art pieces, uniquely designed objects and the like. She will turn 30 this year and is throwing a big bash to celebrate her single blessedness. What I would to give her is a lilliput lane that I saw at The UK Gift Company. You can see the photo of it in this post. She already has some castle displays and this Frog Hall Limited Edition piece will surely go well with her collection.

This is what I normally do before I give a gift to a relative or friend… I observe. I make sure that what I will give him or her will complement her lifestyle. Something that he or she will truly appreciate. A lladro is quite expensive but look at the details of this Lladro Utopia below. This is something that every Lladro collector will surely love. And this can also be found at The UK Gift Company. I really love Lladro pieces and this one by far is my favorite.

My friend, Joshua, is pregnant. It will be her second baby although she had a miscarriage on the first one. I am racking my brain for weeks now thinking of what to give her. And I am sure this willow tree new life sculpture is the perfect gift that I can give her!

Willow Tree
Willow Tree New Life

All of the pieces you saw above can all be found and purchased at The UK Gift Company and their online shop can be found at TheUKGiftCompany.co.uk wherein you can find every gift idea that you can think of. Not only do they carry Lladro, Lilliput Lane or Willow Tree pieces, they also carry other traditional China and glass pieces like this cool cats collection.

Cool Cats Our First Litter

So if you want any of these pieces to give out to family and friends, or even to give yourself, I suggest you head on now to TheUKGiftCompany.co.uk and check out their long list of gift pieces. These pieces can be added to a collection or can even signal a start of a collection if you haven’t gotten one already. The UK Gift Company is an online store that started in May 2005 but is actually already in existence since 1858.

I really love this online store and have already marked some pieces for purchase. Go ahead and visit them now!

The type of beggars that makes me angry!

If you are passing by an MMDA footbridge or an overpass or any other bridge here in Manila, you will surely notice a mother carrying an infant or a toddler, begging. Both are sporting a set of dirty clothes, most of the time the infant or toddler is naked. Both are dirty. They look like they haven’t taken a bath for quite some time already. In short, they really look like helpless people, it will break your heart seeing mother and child in such condition. They use this scenario to squeeze some change out of people passing by them.

I must admit that I am one of the many people who are being ‘duped’ by this set up. A mother and child begging for change so they could have something to eat… who will not feel like giving when you see this, right? I give money if I have some extra in my pocket or I give whatever food I have with me. But lately, I notice that some are taking advantage of other people’s kind hearts. A mother is using her kid to beg at the Sto. Domingo MMDA footbridge. You will see this mother always eating something while her kid is crying his heart out, probably out of hunger and cold. Whenever I see the child, it is always naked from waist down, and it is lying near the edge of a step. While the mother is busy eating or barking orders at some kids that I assume are her own as well. My dad reprimanded the mother several times already, asking her to go home and not exploit her child. Do you know that she would stand up, adamant, glaring at my dad, telling him to mind his own business? We reported her to the barangay officials already, telling them that maybe they can send the mother and child to the Social Welfare. I don’t know if they listened to us. But this afternoon, there is a new mom and child when we passed by the footbridge. This time, the mother looked like they just dirtied themselves so they would look like beggars. The mother looks fit to work. It just makes you angry at times to see this kind of mother. Exploiting a child, just to be able to have some quick and easy money.

There is another type of beggar that makes me angry… Read the rest of this entry »

For plus size women

I noticed that for plus size women, it is hard to find fit clothes as well as plus size lingerie. Almost all stores cater to the slim and super thin women. Thank goodness for some stores that sell fashionable clothes and lingerie for plus size women. Lingerie Diva is one of the stores that cater to the bigger women. They sell beautiful plus size lingerie. So if you are looking for one, you can go online and browse their catalogue.

Amazing transformation

I watched an episode of The Beat last night and was amazed by the transformation of a 285 lbs woman into 130 lbs. She appeared healthier and happier with her slimming down. I am in the process of dieting as well. I have struggles with my weight for years now. And I promised myself that by the time I reach my 30th birthday, I should be in my ideal weight already.

A friend slimmed down and she told me that she tried using weight loss pills and it is effective for her. I think I should as well. What do you think?

Buying something for the house

Whenever I go out of the house, I always bring home something for the house. A pot holder, dish towel, pillow case or a pair of throw pillows… there is always something for the house. I believe I got this from my mom who loved going to the home section of the mall. Lately, we’ve been redecorating various sections of the house.

So for this month, we are redecorating the kitchen. I am looking for quality faucets that I can buy. I found a Hansgrohe faucet and I think it will fit our sink. Great!

Proper posture

My sister has scoliosis. Her doctor told her that she still can correct it as long as she conforms to proper posture always. I saw this posture correction contraption from FirstStreetOnline.com and I would like to buy this one for my sister. It will surely help her back and maintain proper posture especially when she’s on the couch.

It is better to do everything to avoid surgery or lifetime bodily damage, right? If you are interested in this posture correction, go visit FirstStreetOnline.com for more information.

My bets

All photos from my Baguio trip will be posted in the next few days…

I love watching tv series. I love Heroes, Prison Break, Ugly Betty… when I was in Baguio I get to see American Idol Season 7. I have this attitude of finishing what I have started and that includes shows. I haven’t watched the past 6 seasons except the latter part of Season 1. But now, I think I am hooked.

If you are watching Season 7, have you noticed the petite but powerful singer Ramiele Malubay? Oh yes, she is a Filipina! I am amazed by this person’s powerful vocals. If you are voting, go vote for her! Read more about her HERE.

I also love Carly Smithson!

Go vote for them!

Weekend Snapshot #15 - Baguio City

My sisters and I are off to Baguio this weekend. We have opted to go a week earlier than the Panagbenga weekend because my bestfriend is getting married on Monday, February 18th. Panagbenga is Flower Festival to those who do not know it. It is an annual festival at the cold city of Baguio. Baguio is a beautiful tourist destination here in the Philippines.

Happy weekend everyone! See you on Wednesday.

Busy, busy, busy

Been out of the house everyday, running errands mostly. Been so busy catching up with a lot of things. If you will notice, I go online for a few hours only. Barely have enough time to bloghop to everyone’s site. But I will do my rounds this evening. Will be offline for 4 days…

My sisters and I will be going to Baguio tomorrow until Tuesday evening. My bestfriend will be getting married by Monday, February 18th. We will also be touring the city again and hopefully will bump into Pam before we go back to Manila.

I will probably just schedule a Weekend Snapshot entry as well as another entry about interim posts.

So expect a lot less of me until I come back to blogging on Wednesday :)
Happy Friday everyone!

P.S. Thank you for the tags and awards! I am a bit slow picking everything up but know that I truly appreciate all of it.

Be aware of the symptoms

My sister teaches at a special education school. She handles two cases right now. One is an autistic child while the other one is a kid with cerebral palsy. There are cerebral palsy symptoms that a parent must be aware of. The child that my sister is teaching has stiff bones and can hardly walk. Thanks to advance technology these days and to regular therapy, the child was able to walk independently.

Better to have the child checked if you are suspecting that he or she might be suffering from any kind of illness. It is better to be ahead of whatever illness that might strike. That way there is still a chance that it can be eliminated right away.
