you CAN have a good blog without PR, because as you say a good blog is down to the content rather than what Google think of it, but if you do good posts, the likelyhood is that other blog owners will pick up on this and give you a linkback, so you’ll build up PR.

i believe the PR has something to say about the quality of a site, but it does not tell everything. besides, content is subjective. little lights last blog post..PhotoHunt: Clouds

you raised a good point there. Google page ranks can be manipulated by SEO experts. it’s now quantity vs. quality.too bad for those who don’t know much about SEO and who care about good content like most of us.

PR is just a number to me too. I don't put any stock in it. I did check on my blogs, 2 of which weren't even rated and my PNN one was a 3 last I checked which really surprised me. I never really bother with the PR; that’s why I don’t even install a widget that tells me what is my site’s PR. More focus is on the content.
