Unexpected phone call

I got a call from my friend’s cousin out of the blue. We got along famously when I spent a week at their resthouse a year ago during the summer. Since then, he would call me up to say hi from time to time. But for a few months now, he was busy with a career shift that we hardly had time to talk to each other. He called me up the other night to talk about… balance transfer credit card, of all topics! He went on and on about it and when I had enough, I asked him if he was selling something.
