Special possessions

I take care of things that I own, regardless if I bought it or it was given to me. It does not matter if it is expensive or cheap. As long as I know it’s mine, I take care of it. I especially treasure things that were given to me by people special to me. Like this painting from Nona. It’s a mother and child painting that she gave me the first time we saw each other. It was in December 2006 that she gave this to me. And from that day forward, the painting hangs in this corner of our living room, near the mount of photos of my family.

I know that a lot of people are also doing this to the paintings they have. A cousin of mine has a couple of artworks made by her dad. The paintings are prominently displayed in their living room, one of which, a Mona Lisa, seems to be following you with her eyes wherever you go.
