Wedding Preparations

Before I was married a couple of years ago I very rarely used to be too worried about stationery and never thought I’d be the kind of person to obsess about the small details, but this all changed as we started preparing for the wedding. I’d never even considered all the things that can be customized and adapted to suit the theme of a wedding before, and because we were trying to do as much as we could ourselves I quickly started to learn. From wine labels through to custom stickers, the wedding preparations would teach me about all of these.

The Invitations
Although we had always talked about the costs of arranging the wedding, and that we were hoping not to spend too much, it was when we started getting quotes for having our invitations made that made me realize how much it was going to cost.

After discussing things with a friend she recommended that we get together for a weekend, and make our own invitations, and seal each invite with custom stickers that we had designed to suit the theme of the wedding. With a little bit of creativity, and some hard work making and writing each invite, I was happy with the results, and I also found out more about the different type of labels and items we could print.
Preparing For The Big Day
Similarly to many other weddings we had a color theme for our wedding, and we opted for a lovely sky blue and white theme, and then we started looking at how everything could be linked into this theme. What I quickly found out when I was trying to organize things myself was that there are hundreds of things to do, but pulling on a little help from my friends we did manage to get everything together. As we’d already bought the customer stickers, we started thinking about the other things that we could customize to suit the theme for the wedding.

For the evening reception we had prepared the tables to be decorated in the theme of the wedding, and inspiration struck me to carry on this theme on to the drinks we served. My friend who had helped to design the invites came and sat around the kitchen table with us again, and we designed a set of water bottle labels for the table water that would be served that were in the colors of the theme, and also had a dedication showing our names and the wedding date too. As we had already designed the labels for the water, we ended up also having a set of wine labels made from the bottles of house red and white that would be served.
Hard But Rewarding Work
Trying to design and arrange your own wedding is definitely hard work, but seeing the theme come together for what turned out to be a magical day was amazing. My mum has also kept hold of a special bottle of wine with one of the wine labels on as a memento too!
