7 years and counting!
If you tell me seven years ago that I will resign from my corporate job to become a freelance consultant and full-time blogger, I would have laughed at your face. When it comes to my monthly income, I was not the risky type. I always went after what’s guaranteed. A monthly paycheck was a guaranteed one compared to going freelance.
But you know what? I did it. I ventured into the unknown. I took a risk and resigned from my corporate job.
And I never regretted that decision!
I am now happy with what I do. I was scared at first but eventually, I came to rely on my skills to see me through. I had some of the greatest times of my life in the first two years of going freelance. On the third year, there was a scare due to the recession that hit the world but I managed to stay afloat and see myself through it. And now, seven years later, I am still here, a freelance consultant and full-time blogger.
I know a lot of people felt I was wasting my CPA license writing for a living. I actually feel a little guilty for neglecting my license but I am happy with writing! I am happy being my own boss and nothing beats the fact that I get to stay with my family while earning.
If I can do this for the rest of my life, I will. I just wish more tasks will come and that Mr. G of the internet won’t be too harsh on us little bloggers trying to earn a living using the net.
