Food Friday: Dragon Fruit

Friday, July 18th, 2008

We bought some fruits a couple of days ago when we went grocery shopping. I haven’t tasted a dragon fruit yet so we bought two. Unfortunately, my sister thought I didn’t want it so they ate it and did not leave anything for me. Will just buy one again :)

Have you tasted this unusual fruit yet?

Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend!

These are little chocolate crinkles. Chocolate crinkles are little chocolate cookies rolled in powdered sugar. The cookies take on a crackled appearance. And I buy the brand Chocolitos. Super yummy and I munch on two to three of these during the weekend. Yum!

Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend!

P.S. I seem to be advertising local products left and right hehehe…

Food Friday: Brownie Javakula

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I am not much into cold coffee drinks but whenever I feel like drinking one, I always get a Brownie Javakula from Seattle’s Best. It has this bittersweet taste that I really love. Plus the brownies in it are yummy! It also has chocolate sprinkles mixed in it that I look for in cold coffee drinks :)

Want one?

Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend!

P.S. Blatant advertising ito! Hehe

Food Friday: Sisig

Friday, June 20th, 2008

I love Sisig! Whenever we go to Gerry’s Grill or Dencio’s, expect a sizzling plate of sisig to be ordered. According to Wikipedia

Sisig is a Kapampangan term which means “to snack on something sour”. Sisig as is popularly known today is actually sizzling sisig, a Philippine dish made from parts of pig’s head, liver and usually seasoned with kalamansi and chili peppers.

I actually didn’t know that Sisig is a Kapampangan term. Well, figures anyway. Kapampangans are the best when it comes to food.

Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend!

Food Friday: Champorado

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Champorado (Tagalog: tsamporado) is a sweet chocolate rice porridge in Filipino cuisine. It is traditionally made by boiling sticky/sweet rice and cocoa powder giving it a distinctly brown color. However, dry champorado mixes, which may be found in some Asian food stores, are prepared by adding just boiling water. It can be served hot or cold and with milk and sugar to taste. It is served usually at breakfast and sometimes together with dried fish locally known as tuyo.

The pudding becomes very thick and the lighter milk helps to “loosen” it. It’s almost like eating “chocolate oatmeal.” It can be eaten as a snack or dessert as well. Sweet rice can be found in most Asian aisles of a grocery store.

I love eating champorado for breakfast. Not everyday, though. At least once in a while. I know some people eat this with tuyo but I haven’t tried it yet. Is it good?

Happy Friday everyone! Have a fun weekend! :)

Food Friday: Home-made Spaghetti

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Pardon the quality of the photo, I took this shot using my old phone camera and I was so hungry already my hands were shaking *lol*

We are a family who loves to eat pasta. There are days when dinner would be just pasta and some garlic bread. My sister cooked this one and it may not look good in the photo but trust me, it was delicious! We love our spaghetti a bit sweet and spicy. And sis does just that. Plus she makes our garlic bread and it is yummy as well!

Made me soooo hungry looking at this one. Will eat champorado in a while. That would be my next Food Friday entry ;)

Happy Friday everyone!

Food Friday: Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

charliechan.jpg

Whenever we eat at Yellow Cab, we always order Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta. It is a spicy pasta with mushroom, chicken and nuts. I love its spicy flavor. I am not normally crazy about nuts in my food except to eat it separately or with kare-kare but with Charlie Chan…

A box is intended for 2-3 people. But if you have a big appetite, well, you can eat it all alone. My brother can ;)
