RT/WW: Pacquiao's win

The whole of Philippines and Filipinos in other countries have stopped whatever they’re doing and came out to support the number 1 pound for pound boxing king, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, in his fight against Puerto Rican, Miguel Cotto. And the all-out support of the Filipinos did not go to waste. Pacquiao won the fight on a 12th round TKO! He is now a holder of 7 world titles including the WBO welterweight belt that he snatched from Cotto yesterday.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported a zero crime rate yesterday. Much the same with Pacquiao’s other fights. Even the criminals stopped their activities for Pacman. Hahaha

Preparations for the coming holiday season is in full blast here in the country right now. The holiday season in this part of the world starts right after Halloween and ends on the celebration of the Three Kings in January. November 1st, in a previous MYM entry about candles, is a big holiday here in the Philippines. Instead of the actual All Souls’ Day on November 2nd, people commemorate their dearly departed loved ones a day ahead, on All Saints’ Day. And because almost every one is in the different cemeteries nationwide, business-minded individuals take advantage of the days leading to, as well as the actual, holiday. When you are in the cemetery, no need to look for a sari-sari (convenience) store if you need something to munch on or drink. There are stores set up by enterprising individuals inside the cemeteries itself. Like the photo above.

It is inevitable that people will flock to grocery stores tomorrow. According to the local weather bureau, another super typhoon will hit the country on Thursday or Friday. I was guilty of panic buying a day or two before typhoon Pepeng hit the country. Well, if you experienced Ondoy, you would surely be hit by an overwhelming urge to stock up on food.
It’s already raining right now. I am praying, along with thousands of Filipinos, that typhoon Ramil will not hit the country and will change course.
