For executives

A Car Allowance is normally given to the upper management of a company. But do you know that even the executives are exploiting this allowance when nobody’s checking?

When I was still working for an investments company in Makati, I was assigned to check on this allowances given to several key positions in the company. I was disgusted by the expenses they were passing off under the vehicle reimbursement program of the company. I reported the suspicious amounts to the president of the company. I was wondering that time why the president was not acting on the report I made. I was under the impression then that he was not using his own allowance. I was wrong! I checked the company he was under (it was a group of company and some expenses of the president was charged to another company he was acting as president to as well). It turned out that he, too, was taking advantage of the allowance. Even charging some suspicious receipts under it. Tsk tsk tsk

Obviously, I already resigned from the company. It was a suspicious company that I wanted to get out of right away. Not only were they exploiting the car allowance account, some other accounts of the company had charges that were doubly curious as the car allowance account.
