Oh, vanity!

In my opinion, more and more women are becoming vain. Don’t get me wrong. I know it’s perfectly acceptable to be conscious of a person’s appearance, especially if her trade asks for it. But there are some who I think went overboard with their vanity.

A local celebrity used to be one of the most beautiful faces in the country. Due to so many controversies on her personal life, she went on a hiatus of sorts. When she emerged from it, viewers were shocked. She had cosmetic surgery done on her face! It was obvious that she had a face lift, her cheekbones were touched to make it look more prominent, and her lips were pumped with gel to make it look fuller or Angelina Jolie’s. She doesn’t need the best anti wrinkle cream yet because of the lift. But her neck will probably need it in a few years. She looks more like Chuckie Doll now. I just can’t understand why she had to do it to her face, mutilate it when she was given so much beauty to cherish. Now, that’s overboard vanity for me!

There is nothing wrong with making yourself beautiful. But to mutilate your face beyond recognition…
