Good companies

There are good companies. I learned that when a friend of mine discovered that she had hemorrhoids during a pre-employment physical examination. She was called up by the human resources department officer of the company that hired her and told her that she needed to get the best treatment for hemorrhoids first before she could start work. My friend was given a chance first and was never dismissed just like that. I know of a company who already hired someone I know and when he already moved heaven and earth to relocate as fast as he could, he found out that he was actually discarded for someone else. I know, you also want to curse the company, right? Felt that way!
I’ve worked with both the good and the bad. There was one company who spied on their employees’ internet time. The company would open internet access during lunch time only but they would still spy on the employees. I was even reprimanded for checking my blog during my lunch break! I am pro-monitoring of the internet activities of the employees. One could be just playing Farmville during his working hours. But then only if the employee is using the internet during office hours! But if the employee is on a lunch break, I don’t think it’s appropriate that he/she is being spied on.
I might go back to the corporate world one of these days. Who knows? But if ever I go back, I will make it sure that the company I’d be working for will value me as a person and not just as one of their profit-making machines.

I am an accountant, a CPA. I'd been working for 10 years as a corporate rat when I decided to quit. I am now working at home as a consultant and full time blogger.
