Not everything is about money.

When I started working at home a few years back, I told myself that I would make the most out of my time at home. Every opportunity would turn into profit for me. Instead of giving my consultation services for free to the people I know, I would be asking for a fee to supplement my main source of income. I had so many plans like that. I would turn every hour spent awake into profit now that I am working at home.
But you know what, not everything is about money. I realized that as soon as family and friends started approaching me. One relative asked me for help with their bank accounts to turn their idle cash into a sound investment. A couple of relatives and friends asked me to help them deal with their tax problems. Two uncles asked my help in finding car insurance companies who can give them cheaper rates. And there’s so much more. I could charge them a fee for my services but some of the things they asked of me were so simple and easy that I never thought of charging them anymore. Plus, doing a favor has its own reward. So if you asked me if my plans pushed through… I did go into consultancy but only with audit and taxation. The rest, the little requests, I never did get to charge those things.
