How To Find a Mattress Right For You

When mattress shopping I can easily identify with a certain fairy tale character that searched for a bed that was just right. There are many factors that can impact on your decision to find mattress designs that are right for you. Firstly one must consider the size; single, twin, double, queen and king are the most common sizes available. Comfort is key- since if you get eight hours of sleep a night, you will end up spending a third of your life in bed!
You should get to know your sleeping habits as what is comfortable for a side sleeper may not be what’s comfortable for a stomach sleeper-who often need more spine support. To properly test for comfort, when shopping you should lie down on a mattress in your regular sleep position.
There are many different types of mattresses to consider, an innerspring mattress has been the dominant on the market for many years, but many people choose a memory foam mattress which contours the body as you sleep. Since most people change their mattress every 7-10 years, quality and durability are important factors to consider. The right foundation, whether it’s a box spring or slats is as important and finding the right mattress. Make sure your mattress and foundation match, as mismatched sets can lead to problems.
Unlike Goldilocks, you may have to try more than three beds, to find a mattress that’s right for you.
