DepEd’s K+12 Program: Solution to education problems in the country?

I don’t know if you have heard it already but starting June 2012, all incoming Grade 1 students in the country will be part of the Enhanced K+12 Basic Education Program of the Department of Education (DepEd).

What is the Enhanced K+12 Basic Education Program that I mentioned?

This is what I got from gov.ph‘s web site…

This model involves Kindergarten, six years of elementary education, four years of junior high school (Grades 7 to 10) and two years of senior high school (Grades 11 to 12). The two years of senior high school intend to provide time for students to consolidate acquired academic skills and competencies.

The two years in senior high school… The curriculum will allow specializations in Science and Technology, Music and Arts, Agriculture and Fisheries, Sports, Business and Entrepreneurship.

At some level I understand the point of the DepEd in the additional two years in high school. Some high school graduates tend to enroll in a college course that they are still unsure of. After a year, they will shift to another course and that is a waste of precious time and money. What the DepEd has in mind is for high school students to spend the additional two years thinking and making sure that they know what they really want to take up in college. DepEd is also saying that the two years will be like a course in Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), training students so that for those who cannot afford to go to college, they can begin looking for jobs after.

Now, my beef on this DepEd program…

Lesson learned

One of the things I learned last holiday season is that gift ideas for Christmas is always best to be listed down and there’s no better time to do it but months and months away from the holidays! Instead of waiting for the holiday season, I will really start buying gifts earlier than usual. Anyway, I can store the gift and just wrap it come December.

One other thing I learned: to always keep extra gifts at home. You just never know who will come visiting. This has happened to me several times in the past and I found myself embarrassed that I didn’t have anything to give. Last year, I made sure to store extra gifts and I was able to use most of it.

2012, hear me out! ;-)

I only have one wish for 2012: that it become much better than 2011.

I just want to achieve my goals and end the year with a big smile on my face. Increase my income. Save enough. Travel more. And just enjoy life.

Compliments Shine Through With Diamonds!

I attended a few parties during the festive December month and I am glad to say that I received compliments not on my new dresses but on the pair of earrings I have purchased for these events. If not for my exquisite diamond earrings, my friends will not be envying me on my outlook. LOL… Okay, I am just kidding! Not that I am vain but I feel that my money is well spent on a few dresses and this beautiful manufactured diamond earrings I have invested recently. These sparkling diamond crystals are actually rare diamonds, man-made eco-friendly diamonds as well and not only that, their prices are very affordable and reasonable as well. Hmmm… my next purchase will be either a diamond pendant or a diamond ring or perhaps I should get both at the same time? I would love to have a full set to show off by next December! LOL…
