Google Chrome

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Google just released its own browser: the Google Chrome. I have been reading good reviews of this browser and I might try it out. I love Firefox but if there is a browser that will make my Entrecard dropping more convenient and much easier, then I am all for that browser!

Though if the Chrome will not work for me, then Firefox will do. I don’t have any problems with Firefox anyway. I am just curious and I want to prove if the raves I just read are really true.

Are you using Google Chrome already? What do you think of it?

Several things…

Monday, September 1st, 2008
  • First off, it is now September 1st. There will be a couple of events in the family this month. 3 birthdays, 1 death anniversary.
  • I am in a quandary over the overlapping topics in this blog and at my other blog. I know I will be able to resolve it soon. But I just want you to know that this is the reason why there are not much updates in this blog.
  • My once almost 900 Technorati Authority is now down to 500-something. I believe it is going down some more. People have been telling me that the reason behind the down slide in Technorati Authority is because they only keep the 6 months active links. Am I right? I guess I need to find some ways to generate fresh links for this blog. Hmm…
  • You will see more non-sponsored posts about products here. Plus I think I will resurrect my Dneero surveys for everyone to answer if they care to.
  • My Alexa Rank is doing great! Thanks to Entrecard and the traffic from other sites.
  • I believe my Weekend Snapshot entries will now be transferred to Solitude. No more memes here if I can help it. All memes and tags will be done in my other blogs.

Okay, that’s it for now. There will be a few scheduled posts coming up.

Happy Labor Day to all bloggers in the US! Enjoy the day!

This blog's tagline

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

If you have noticed, I changed this blog’s tagline. Whereas before it says “Reviews, Personal Experiences, Blogging Issues”, it now says “current issues, reviews, work at home“.

The reason for the change is that I have been blogging not only about blog issues but also about current issues in the government, society, blogging in general and other big issues of the moment. I also blog about celebrity issues here although that would be lessened now. I will blog about celebrity issues in Splotches, which will soon have a re-launch. Obviously, I write reviews. So that would mean there are days when I will be posting a couple of entries. All reviews will be tagged accordingly. And that would be Brain Wave, Resources and Games and Fun. I previously join several memes but for a while now, I have limited this blog’s participation to Weekend Snapshot and Food Friday. Food Friday will eventually be moved to another blog but for now, those two memes are the only memes you will see here.

I will do occasional tags from other bloggers but as much as possible, I will post tags at My Own Utopia. And since I now work at home, you will also see some entries here relating to that.

So there you go. My brand new blog design comes with a brand new tagline :)

Good PR = Good Blog Image?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

While dropping (Entre)cards, I read a post by BonoTravel and the last line of the post reads as follows…

Will PageRank (PR) really improve your blog image?

Let me answer that. NO, a high PR does not necessarily mean that your blog has a good image. Remember there are really good SEO experts out there who can ‘manipulate’ search engine results, making them top searches even though their entries actually contain BS. I know a couple of people who do this kind of thing, just to get PR juice.

You can have a PR of zero but still have great content. It’s just that your blog contains a sprinkling of ads here and there that made the mighty G slap you. I have encountered great blogs because of Entrecard and they have a freakin’ ZERO for a PR. But go over their blogs and their entries are inspiring and interesting and just plain entertaining.

Let me know your thoughts on this :)

Terrific Entrecard!

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Because of Entrecard, my Alexa rank for this blog is now 194,070 (as of July 15, 2008). Before I joined Entrecard, my Alexa was going down. I still have my regular visitors but the bulk of the traffic this blog is getting comes from Entrecard droppers.

THANK YOU to everyone who drops their cards here!

If you are not yet an Entrecard member, I suggest you go and join now. It will do wonders to your blog traffic. Plus you will get to meet great bloggers and get ideas and inspirations from great blogs.

Have a happy (albeit rainy) day everyone! :)

Link love

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

I don’t know if you have noticed but when you are linked through Blogrolling, you do not get any link love from it. No Technorati Authority or Google PR juice from it. I just noticed this because I have been checking some links I have in my blogroll and several did not register in my incoming links. I have yet to check if the link will register in Technorati if you use your Links in the Dashboard of your blog. Because I use that one in some of my blogs and I don’t know if I just overlooked it but I think there are no incoming links from it as well.

If you know anything about this, please leave a comment here :)

Feeds

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

I bungled my Feedburner. I was afraid I did something wrong to it because for a few days, it was showing a 0 number of feed subscribers when before that happened, I have around 62. Thank goodness, I found the culprit already. It was a plugin I installed and well, it played havoc to my feeds. Basta, you better check the plugin first before you install it. And be careful with all those buttons that you will click. You just never know when an error will occur.

Pleasantly surprising blogger comments

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Have you noticed how exciting it is to receive comments from bloggers who are up there in the blogosphere ladder? Well, I got two last week from someone I have been reading about for so long already. She is one of the first “blogger-celebrities” that I got to know when I started blogging myself. I was pleasantly surprised how simple and sincere her comments were. To say I was thrilled when I read the URL of the commentator is an understatement. It actually made my day!

Do you also feel the same way when you receive comments from bloggers you consider celebrities?

Technorati Authority

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

The Technorati Authority has been fluctuating like crazy for the past few weeks now. It has become unstable. One day you get a really high authority. The next day it drops down by 5 or more points. I wonder what’s happening. I have been experiencing this fluctuation for quite some time now. Not just with this blog but with my other blogs as well. It gets frustrating when you really look into it. I ping my blogs and if there is no change at all, I email Technorati support. But well, it happens again and again.

Have you noticed this one as well?

Out of sorts

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Please bear with my 2-day absence from Entrecard dropping. I have been taking care of my brother’s college school supplies and is quite busy with last minute shopping. Yesterday, we were out to visit my mom’s grave. Since it will take us a bit of time to visit her grave because of school and work, we opted to go visit her yesterday, being a holiday and all. Tomorrow, my brother and I will be going to buy him school shoes. Last Sunday when we went to the mall, he did not find anything to his fancy so we’ll be off to hunt for the pair of shoes tomorrow.

Normal EC dropping will resume by tomorrow night.

Have a great week everyone!
