Are You Bakunado?

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

My sister, Vivian, easily gets sick. I remember my mom telling me that when my sister was still a baby, she would get sick again and again. They would bring her to the doctor regularly for check ups and would go home with a number of new medicine for her. My parents were desperate to make her well and they sought the help of another doctor. The new doctor advised them to get my sister a Flu vaccine. It worked like magic! My sister slowly recovered from her bout of sickness and would catch cough and colds but not as frequently as before.

Fast forward 25 years after, my sister is now an accountant, working for a top insurance company here in the country. She just transferred to the company and since she wants to give a good impression, she is giving 200% of herself to her new work. Late nights, 6-day work weeks… my sister is showing signs of fatigue and stress. You can tell that her immune system is low and that she is prone to sickness. It’s like being 3 years old once again.

She consulted the company doctor and she was advised to get a Flu shot. Her medical history was taken into account. The environment she is currently in was checked - most of her co-workers are sick. The doctor knew right away that she will get sick, too, prone as she is. After the flu shot, my sister run a high fever, a common after-effect of a flu vaccine. Better a day or two of fever, than a week of Trangkaso, don’t you think?

Vivian is as healthy as she can be right now. She still has late nights and too much work but the Bakuna is working like magic in her once again. These days, it’s hard to be sick. Aside from being costly, it takes a toll on your body and creates emotional stress in the people around you. That’s why a flu vaccine is important.

Hectic days

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

I still miss my old company from time to time. I miss some of my old co-workers. I miss my boss whom I consider my mentor. Just last night, I was making searches in two social networking sites, checking what happened to some people I know. I was happy with what I learned about them. Most are married but some are still happily single like me.

I miss those hectic days when not only was I working frantically to finish the company’s financial statements, I was also acting as an admin officer. Permits, truck rentals for office transfers, use of office premises on weekends… these were some odd tasks assigned to me when I was just starting out.

Oh well, I just miss those days…

Bravely fighting

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

There are so many things in life that we need to be thankful for. That’s one of the things I was reminded of when I saw this documentary about poverty. People out there are suffering, unable to eat enough, sometimes without anything to eat at all. No roof and walls they can find solace in. Most of these people don’t even know what a Hansgrohe faucet is. But you can find them smiling, bravely fighting what life dealt them. It’s made me think of saying thanks for everything, including the tough times.

Trackable tiny url

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

I normally shorten long urls that I include in emails to my friends. Like for example, I want them to read an article that I read somewhere or a post I’ve written, I don’t give them the complete URL that’s so long but would rather shorten it before sending it through email.

If you don’t know a web site where you can shorten those long urls, go to URLZoom.org. Register as a user for free. What is unique with URL Zoom is that you are not only creating a simple shortened url, you are actually creating trackable tiny urls. You can actually track referring sites, date and time of click-throughs. Imagine that!

If you are doing a marketing campaign, url tracking is important. You can easily track the top referring sites. For those who are offering affiliate programs, a trackable url is what you need. Imagine the ease with which you can easily track an affiliate. I am thinking of using a trackable url for a contest I am cooking up for this blog. I will probably give a special award to the best referring site. What do you think? Hmm…

If you are looking for a trackable tiny url, go to URLZoom.org now.

Sunny days are here!

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

On a sunny day like this, I wish we have really good patio furniture so I can work there instead. I love it when the sun is gently beating down on my back. And I have a cold buko juice while working. Bliss!

For the past few days now, I’ve been feeling restless. I need a change of something. I am thinking since I haven’t rearranged my desk and other things here in my corner at home, my little home-office set up, it might have something to do with it. Or just plain laziness on my part? Hehe

I just know that I need something done as soon as possible. I need to be more productive now.

Gifts for special occasions

Friday, March 20th, 2009

I make it a point to give gifts to family and relatives on special occasions. This is actually just a way of saying that I remember them on an occasion that is special to them. You see, I hardly see some of my relatives and I feel guilty that I only see them during weddings, funerals and reunions.

Anniversary gifts are the ones I commonly send out. I note anniversaries in my organizer and make sure that I send them either wine or something I know they will enjoy. Now, since it’s graduation months, I am checking out graduation gifts for the cousins who will be graduating. Something useful to them. The new college students will be getting something that they can use in their dorm. The high school ones will probably get an organizer from me.

If you are also looking for gifts for special occasions, go to ShopWiki.com instead of just searching through the common search engines. At ShopWiki, you are assured you will see web sites that sell these special items at discounted prices. Check out ShopWiki.com now.
