It’s a goal!

It’s a goal! I hear that often from our neighbor’s six-year-old son. He loves soccer and he has a complete set of soccer equipment including those soccer goals. You can hear him playing and shouting as if he’s in an actual match. It puts a smile to my face when I hear him in the mornings. I can just feel the childlike glee and innocence of the little kid.

When we were kids, me and my siblings, we did not have that kind of luxury to buy the toys we wanted. Oh yes, we have more than enough toys. During special occasions, our parents would buy us one. But always only what my parents could afford. And those big toys like dollhouses and the like are toys my parents could not afford that time. Don’t get me wrong, I did not miss out on anything. I will not trade my childhood for anything else. I just love seeing kids playing toys that I could have played with when I was younger. It brings me back to the old days.

The neighbor’s son makes me reminisce about my youth. There are Sunday mornings that when I hear him playing, I would just stare off in space and would let myself go back to when we were kids and life is simpler.
