Kung Hei fat Choi.

Woohoo! I’m glad my site is up again (Thank you, Ate Sasha. *mwah) so here I am doing my first update for this month. Chinese New Year is fast approaching and I can’t simply wait to officially welcome the “Year of the Earth Rat”. Well, I am an Ox-baby and according to my Chinese fortune for this year (hmm), let me choose to not spoil it here because it might get jinxed or something. But to give you a clue about it, it is said that my year is gonna be good. Hooray for me!!Chinese New Year 2008

If you want to know your fortune for this year, visit any Chinese temple and ask them to read it for you. Well, for me, Chinese astrology is more accurate than any fortune telling there is. That’s my belief and of course, my dad is simply a Chinese. Before New Year’s Eve I need to buy numerous tikoy or Nian Gao for my family and friends.

So that’s it for now. I’ll be leaving you with a simple recipe on how to cook the famous Nian Gao. I got this recipe from Inquirer.net.

Man’s Basic Tikoy Recipe

300 g glutinous rice flour
300 g brown sugar
150 g corn starch
100 g vegetable oil
200 g water
½ c coconut milk

Heat a large vat with vegetable oil.

Stir in ingredients slowly and continue to stir. After mixing all the ingredients well, cook it for at least 1 hour until thick and sticky.

Pour into a deep round dish and cool. After a few hours of cooling, refrigerate.

Recipe makes one standard round tray of tikoy.

Man’s cooking techniques and various ways of serving tikoy:

Cut tikoy into cubes, line them in a steamer and steam for 15 minutes. When the tikoy is hot, transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle top with grated fresh coconut meat and serve.

Special rice cakes are best enjoyed when sliced into strips (as thick as your pinky finger), wrapped in spring roll wrapper and deep-fried. It is recommended to serve with honey, fruit jam or sprinkled sugar. Enjo!

Ads on your site.

Posted on February 3rd, 2008

To all people who have their own blog/s, here’s your chance to monetize your blog or site and earn. Simply place audio ads on your sites and get paid for every visitor who goes to your sites. The ads that you are going to install will simply play for 5 seconds and that’s it, you can earn from it.Why should you join this program? Well, aside from playing ads on your site, you could join their affiliate program which has started to open the other day, February 1, 2008. So when you sign-up right now you can get revenue from your ads which you have placed on your sites. Still not clear eh? Well, this actually works in tiers.

The Tier 1 is where you get to paid for placing ads on your site.

Tier 2 is where you get paid from your direct referral/s. So get people who’d sign up under you and have them placed the ads on their sites, too.

And Tier 3 is where you get paid for the referred people which your direct referrals have referred to.

If you are lucky enough to have signed before February 1, then you’re good to go for you have maximize your revenue then. So, good luck with this, people. Think of it as a great way to monetize your site.

New shows.

Posted on February 2nd, 2008

Moving in and moving out of the city is really a big hassle. We have to rent a truck or van to bring our things from our current house to the new house. Aside from the money that you have to pay them, you have to consider the time when you pack all your things. You have to cut off your telephone line and cable and have it transferred to your new place. And also, you have to settle all your bills!

So anyway, since we have just moved in last November I am thinking of choosing from one of the provider of cables in Manila and have them connect a new cable line for us. I am tired with local shows already. And it’s time to watch new educational programs now. And that’s it.

To travel soon.

Posted on February 1st, 2008

A close friend of mine has started to tour around different states in America when she went there to study. She let me see her pictures of the places she has traveled and boy I envy her. hen late last year, she got her driver’s license and was able to tour around Las Vegas twice! They played casinos with her boyfriend and even checked in in one of the Vegas hotels there. Whoa, that reminded me of the show in AXN. Anyway, I wish I’d be able to travel soon… far and wide, too. :)
