paraskevidekatriaphobia

..means fear of Friday the 13th. There’s really no explanation at all why some people believe that this is an unlucky day. But looking closely at the origin of this superstition, there are stories rooting in our Western culture - our Christian Theology. Remember the Last Supper? It was on a Friday and13 people were present there - the 12 disciples and Jesus - but Judas, the one who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th member to arrive. The time when Jesus died on the cross, it was also on a Friday, thus we call it Good Friday on Lent.

Another story about the number 13 is that it is the number of pagan. They have 13 months in the pagan lunar calendar wherein the lunar calendar connects to the human menstrual cycle which means femininity.

But I think this famous folklore doesn’t have much to do with the people’s fears today but with a person’s experience. A person of course will look for an evidence that something unlucky will happen to him on that day and if something bad really happened to him then that would probably stay with him - Friday the 13th is unlucky. This I will tell you, guys, it’s natural for each person to experience and encounter something bad (whether big or small) but if you keep on looking and watching out for bad luck, then you’ll probably find it.

Keep on wishing good things. Just enjoy and savor every second and every minute of our day. May the good luck be with us all. *mwah

I was born 13th day of March. huhu. Coincidence lang yan minsan na may masamang mangyari sa’yo. Bini-base kasi sa storya ng tao. Whether it’s true or not, we need to be careful not only on friday the 13th but everyday. Ask God’s guidance.
