Let’s talk about webhosting and Alexa redirect train

Webhosting

A lot of blogger friends have been asking me about the webhosting plan that I got. So here’s a more detailed infomation about it.

I was actually referred by ate Nalen of Manilenya to Big Sky Media. I was planning to avail of another webhost’s services but I was given another option so I double checked everything just to be sure I am really availing of the best yet the most affordable for me.

And then I conveniently forgot about it because I was originally targeting July as the date I will buy my own domain. Until May 9th, when Cess and I chatted and well, I got all so hyped about getting my own domain. So I checked BigSkyMedia’s rates and here’s what I saw.

I chose the 100 pesos/month plan. Just imagine that, 100 pesos PER MONTH. You wouldn’t even feel that, it’s like paying for a Jollibee meal only. So the first cashout for me was 850 pesos. That’s 3 months hosting plus the 550 pesos domain name. Neat huh?

As I’ve previously mentioned, thanks to my earning from Blog to Profit because that’s where I got the moolah to pay for it. I am also planning to use future earnings to pay for my hosting.

I was tagged by Manila Mom. Thank you Maia for tagging me always. This is actually a support for my blog and I thank you for that :)
Anyway, this meme is supposedly aimed to increase one’s Alexa rank. I do hope this is true. Here goes…

    ask ko lang, pano kung hindi ka na nakapagbayad, edi tatanggalin na nila yung domain mo? o mananatili pa rin yun, yun nga lang hindi mo na sya ma-uupdate?

    Mawawala na ang hosting so wala ka ng blog nun hehe… Yung domain name sayo pa rin for 1 yr kasi ang bayad mo dun.

    I checked your package and you got a good deal. My host has cheaper packages but the service could be better (it isn’t as good as my previous host,which is just their sister company).

    And also, I might get my domain and hosting from Big Sky Media, is their service okay? I also inquired from other hosting sites, but I am still scouting for a better package and trying to get feedbacks on their services.

    I have some blogger friends who testified to the services of Big Sky Media that’s why I pushed through with getting them to service my hosting needs. Baka matatapos na 1 year mo, tignan mo if you would want to transfer :)

    Hmm… regarding the domain name, already wrote it down your comment section. Sana it would help you :)
    Their service is okay based on 2 of my blogger friends’ testimonials. And I believe them because I have never seen their sites down. That is the biggest consideration I had in mind when scouting for a webhost.

    Forgive me for my ignorance and presumptuousness for commenting here (I guess I’m feeling generous? :D) but I don’t get what webhosting is for.

    Then again I may just be a cheapie.

    I was thinking if Skippy gets ads and possibly $40,000/month by blogging from his free blog at Blogger… why would anyone want to buy a domain from say, Wordpress, at $10? And monthly webhosting?(Yes, I’m a cheapie!!! And there’s light to be shed.)

    hmmm. the 100p/month fee sure is very inviting. still, i believe that the best things in life are “free” (wouldn’t you say?)
    but anyway, if you had the resources to pay for domain hosting then i think you should go for it. besides we get what we pay for right?

    Enoc, wordpress ka ba? If you’re using the latest one, 2.1 there’s a tab under DASHBOARD-MANAGE that says EXPORT. U can use that. Otherwise, if u dont have
    the export tab there, tell me I will give u a plugin u can install to export all your posts and comments to another blog :)

    i like to have my own domain too! but im quite illiterate about how it all works. i mean, with blogger, all i do is write then publish. no hassles of sorts. P100 is soooo cheap! if i will be eductaed to the ways of domains, i’ll probably buy myself one.

    Hi Lei! It would be a somewhat difficult transition from blogspot to wordpress kasi. I’m using wordpress as a platform. But believe me, mas mako-configure mo ito the way you want it unlike sa blogspot. Plus mas maraming features hehe

    I will be posting a tutorial on how to go about setting up your own domain. Come back from time to time para makita mo and find out for yourself how easy it is :)

    cheaper sa namecheap, depending on the dollar-peso exchange rate. :) pero $8.88 lang. pero you’ll need a credit card kasi hindi sya local. :D oo nga, mura. pero hini ba mas mura pa rin keh ate ems? mas malaki pa ang space. wala lang. :D
