Before I forget…
HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY WORDPRESS!
I prefer Wordpress over Blogger. The latter may be simpler and easier and caters to blogger newbies out there, but for me Wordpress is still the better platform, even for newbies. Everything I know about CSS I learned because of Wordpress.
So a big THANK YOU and more years of Wordpress to come!
Weekend Snapshot #22 - David
Meet David, my new laptop. I bought him around two weeks ago. The specs are great. Enough for me to start doing some graphics
I am still in the process of installing programs I need and transferring files from my desktop.
Anyway, David is taking up a lot of my time. Still tinkering with it and enjoying every minute of it.
Happy weekend everyone!
Latte shot
I am thinking of different categories for this blog. Something akin to what Lorelle has. Only 4 main categories. I might have more than that, but what I currently have.
The first category I thought of is CAFFEINE FIX. This category will be a catch-all for those entries I cannot put under the specific ones I am thinking of.
Is your head aching, brain hurting and your body just not cooperating? A good caffeine fix will do you a world of good.
Good conversation is as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after.

Food Friday: Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta
Whenever we eat at Yellow Cab, we always order Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta. It is a spicy pasta with mushroom, chicken and nuts. I love its spicy flavor. I am not normally crazy about nuts in my food except to eat it separately or with kare-kare but with Charlie Chan…
A box is intended for 2-3 people. But if you have a big appetite, well, you can eat it all alone. My brother can
Happy Friday everyone!

Reliable web hosting
Before anything else, let me tell you right away that I am not being paid to write this post. The following is my experience with my new web host…
I was with another web host when I started with this blog. But since I experienced several inexplicable and unreasonable downtimes with that web host, I started looking for a new one. I was afraid to transfer at first because I have several worries then:
Downtime - I am monetizing most of my blogs. I was afraid that it might take me 24 hours before I can transfer all my domains. THE TRUTH IS, it took me a couple of hours, if I remember it right, 5 hours to transfer the main domains. I did it on a weekend so there was little interruption.
Transfer - Let me tell you how easy it is. Very easy! If you have experience with a cpanel and have added a domain already, then it will be a breeze for you. Now if you are unfamiliar with cpanel, it is easy to learn how to tinker with one. It is very straightforward. It took me 10-15 minutes to transfer a domain. I have several domains so it took me around an hour or two.
Reactivation of domains - If you did the transfer right, all your domains will be up in an hour or two. It’s that fast!
Tech support - One of the things I love about my old web host is that they have a superb tech support. So I worried if I will receive the same tech support from the new web host. And you know what? They are just one chat away. So far, I have used their chat service for a couple of times and all those times, I received the answers I was asking.
The web host I am talking about, my new web host, is BLUEHOST.COM. When I started inquiring about how to transfer, how to go about getting a new host, I received quite a mixed reaction with regards to this web hosting company. I considered everything and well, Bluehost is Fantastico enabled, has the same cpanel I am used to, is quite popular, has big capacity and affordable. The last two had been a big consideration for me. I want to be able to get a web host that is affordable and yet would give me the best package there is.
Let me reiterate, I am NOT being paid to write this. It took me quite a while to put up an affiliate button and a recommendation post because I wanted to be sure that I can really recommend Bluehost to my friends and readers. I know how it feels to have a web host that sucks. I know how it feels to worry when the next downtime would occur. No, Bluehost does not guarantee 100% uptime. But let me tell you this, the longest downtime I experienced so far is 15 minutes. And that’s it!
This is just a recommendation. You are free to dispute my claims here. You are free to try Bluehost if you like.
Let me know your thoughts and if you tried.
Beauty talk
Are you interested in setting up your own salon? Then the Beauty Warehouse is the place for you to go to. This site has everything you need in setting up a salon. From the smallest things up to the big equipment, name it, they have it. They even have salon signages if you want to get it from them as well.
When we were kids, Rica used to go to our house to trim my hair and my siblings as well. My mom met him when he was still the hairdresser in a salon near our house. Because my mom got used to him, even when he was no longer with the salon my mom frequented, he went to our house once a month to trim our hair. I remember him to be this chatty guy who loved to talk to my mom about so many things, including his personal life. He is gay. He often told my mom how he wished he can put up his own salon so he need not go work for another person. He really had grand dreams of becoming a well-known hairdresser.
I believe he already has a salon of his own. He stopped going to our house then. One time, he dropped by to say hi to my mom and tell her about this salon that he was managing. I think it became his eventually.
Well, if like Rica, you have grand dreams of owning your own salon, save money for the capital and buy the things you need from BeautyWarehouse.co.za, your one-stop shop for beauty items.
Rest and play
There are really days when all you want to do is lie round the house, do nothing but rest. I felt that way for two weeks. But I could not lie around because I work at home, there were so many things to do, to accomplish. So I felt sluggish and yet I could not stop working. I just dragged my feet for two weeks, forcing myself to be energetic even when I don’t feel like it.
My cousin berated me about working and working and not resting enough. He is the type of person who really takes the time to stop working on weekends. He spends it playing online casino or going out with his friends. But since he is saving money for a planned Australian trip by October, he sticks to hanging out at home on weekends rather than going out. He would rather read a good book, play internet casinos and catch up on sleep. Well, I do the last one on Sundays but still, there are days I feel like I really need some more sleep, a lot of rest. He told me that the saying “all work and no play…” applies to me. I think it really does.
As I have said, if you have a goal in mind and you are desperate to achieve it, you cannot afford to just laze around. But I must admit, a weekend of playing online casinos, sleeping and doing nothing else appeal to me a lot now. I just might do it.
DAVID COOK WINS!!!
American Idol Season 7 winner is DAVID COOK!!!
I love him so much!!! He really deserves to win!
I got this from Boston.com:
It was proof that text-messaging tweens don’t rule the “American Idol” universe. Confirmation that America appreciates a boy who can rock. In last night’s season-seven “Idol” finale, David Cook, the versatile guitarist with the slightly gritty voice, beat David Archuleta, the baby-faced balladeer. The rocker shed tears through his eyeliner. The balladeer smiled. And for a few moments, the world seemed topsy-turvy, in a good way.
Let me correct a line of that quote… The whole world appreciates a boy who can rock!
Cable TV
We were perfectly happy without cable television. We were contented watching the local shows and some foreign ones shown on the local channels. But we were missing the travel shows and the cooking shows and the ambush makeovers
So I had cable tv installed last week. Finally. Some would probably think me archaic because almost all households now have cable tv. But as I’ve said, we’re happy with the local channels.
Well, until the recent downpour of typhoon Cosme. Something happened to our outdoor antenna and the reception went blah. My dad was getting edgy because of the NBA games and the news so instead of getting a new antenna, I went ahead and called up Global Destiny. They went the next day and after 15 minutes of installing the wires and all, cable was on! Their people were very efficient and polite. Unlike those Sky Cable people who had ‘Peso’ on their forehead when they went here. We weren’t able to get their names but the minute they saw that they could ask for some money, they dropped hints that it would be difficult to put up the wires, we would need to pay for the extra cabling and all, blah blah blah. If I were here that time, they would have a gotten a piece of my mind.
Course Destiny has no AXN and Lifestyle Network. But they have ETC, Living Asia and Travel & Living so that’s just fine with me. And as long as Jamie Oliver’s shows are there
For fun or real money
There are days when you feel so sluggish and you just want to be able to sit back and not think of anything else. When this happens, my friend often spends his weekend inside his room. He sleeps late, goes out of his room to eat his meals only then goes back in to just laze around, watch tv and play Online Casino. This weekend retreat refreshes him and gives him the energy he needs to be able to take on the weeks ahead.
He learned to play online casino from his friends in the office. The IT guys know how to play so they thought the other guys in the office. He plays once in a while, for fun. His co-workers play for fun as well, but they also play for real money sometimes. It is an event for the guys because what they do is, they go to a house on a Saturday afternoon, they bring their laptops with them and they play online casino together. They drink and have some fun during this time. It is all fun, really.
Now, where do you download and play online casino games for fun or real money? Well, go to Online Casino Topic to read reviews written by their editors. Get the real deal from the number one online casino gambling resource on the web. Go to OnlineCasinoTopic.com now for more information on online casino.
Still David Cook all the way!
No matter what happens, no matter what the results are tomorrow, David Cook is the winner for me! He’s the one who took more risks. He really gave his all in each of his performances. Never had he forgotten lyrics of his songs. And who made old songs sound new?
David Cook.
Just remember Billie Jean, Hello and Always Be My Baby.
Enough said.

Happy Wednesday!

I am an accountant, a CPA. I'd been working for 10 years as a corporate rat when I decided to quit. I am now working at home as a consultant and full time blogger.
