Get the money back

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

I was really wrong in buying the laptop instead of buying a desktop right away. A desktop is intended for prolonged use and that is what I really need. Thank goodness I earned more than enough last month so I have some money to spare that I used to purchase this desktop.

Now, all I have to worry about is how I can get back the money I spent for the desktop. Here’s to more opps! :)

For more important expenses

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

It’s really funny how we Filipinos find out how much money our government is wasting on unnecessary expenses. Like the “contingency fund” for the Moscow Interpol trip of the 9 generals of the PNP. And numerous other trips/junkets of government officials with their spouses, sometimes with their whole family in tow. That 9M contingency fund could feed a lot of poor Filipino families. It could be given as Christmas bonus to hard working public school teachers. It could be used to help the families of the OFWs hit by the global financial crisis. It could so much good in the country and yet this corrupt government officials are using the people’s money to pay for their own caprice. Such a shame!

While I was watching DILG secretary Ronaldo Puno do a Pontius Pilate act at the Senate hearing this afternoon, I was ready to puke the contents of my stomach. The words of the secretary is much more potent than alli, I tell you. I was disgusted the whole time I was watching him.

Let’s see what happens to this Euro Generals investigation.

Grand vacation

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Key West. That’s my friend’s destination this coming November. He told me that his co-workers have been planning to go there and fish for quite some time now. My friend is working abroad and his co-workers are composed of mostly men. Their interests are understandably running towards those of the outdoors. The last time they all went out together, they went deep sea diving. Now, he is excited with this new adventure with his friends.

This friend of mine is in dire need of that Key West Vacation. He has been working so hard for the past ten years already. He sent his siblings to school, until college. He is still supporting two right now. So these little things that can make him happy are things I keep on telling him to grab from time to time. He needs it otherwise he will experience burn out for sure. Much like what happened to a common friend of ours.

Anyway, if you are in need of some grand vacation, go to Key West FL and enjoy yourself there. Go fishing, which is what most men who go there do. Or simply explore the place while taking your mind off your work. Visit KeyWestVacationGuide.com now for more information.

WAH Moments and WS#30: New Desktop

Monday, October 20th, 2008

I bought a new desktop. My old one crashed a few months ago. Instead of having it repaired which would mean a new motherboard, I thought of buying a new CPU instead. My cousin accompanied me (with my brother James and my friend Shen) last Saturday to buy the necessary CPU parts. We had it installed and because my old monitor is small, I thought I’d buy an LCD monitor. And here it is. I forgot to take a photo of my CPU though. I am more proud of the lovely LCD monitor hahaha

The reason why I bought a desktop is because I am online for more than 12 hours daily. I am afraid my laptop would die on me sooner than it’s expected life. Plus it might overheat. Thus the desktop. The laptop will be used when I go out or when my sister has some typing to do. And for my other sister to do the EC dropping for me :)

You know, the most essential tool for working at home is the computer. So if there is anything at all I could do that will prolong its life, I do it. Unlike in offices where if your computer crashes, or something goes wrong with it, there are other computers you can use. At home, I can only rely on what I have and buying a new one takes some time. Like this desktop took me a couple of months to save and buy one.

Have a great week everyone!

When traveling…

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

When traveling out of the country, it is better to have a travel insurance. It is a safe way of making sure you have something to fall back on should things go bad. This is essential, especially now that there are people out to wreak havoc. It is a paltry amount when you are talking about security and safety. So better be sure you have one before you get on that plane.

Technorati Authority

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

My Technorati Authority took a nosedive!!! From 400-something, it’s now down to 258. Now I am thinking of how I can make it go up again. I guess the incoming links are now 6 months old. I have to do something to make this go up again because I know a couple of advertisers who look at this number.

I was once told by a Technorati support that the viral tagging is something that they will work on to stop in the future. I was emailed about it, especially the most recent one I joined. Even the new blog I have is tagged “for review” because of that viral linking post.

Oh well…

Wheel of Fortune

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

I love contests like Wheel of Fortune. It’s like solving puzzles in a quicker way. I always watch old episodes like the one this afternoon where the contestant won $26,000 plus a GPS AND a trip to Germany for two! Yesterday, it was a come from behind win because the winner had no money for two rounds but won the last round. The host spun the wheel and the price per consonant was $5,000. It was fun to watch! Unlike the local version that lasted for only 1 season, if I am not mistaken.

New CPU

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

I really need to buy memory for my desktop. Actually, I need to replace the whole CPU already. I asked my cousin to accompany me by Saturday. My sisters and my brother often ask me if they can use my laptop but I only go offline when I am done with my posts and my card dropping. And that’s around 2am. So instead of driving them to the nearest internet cafe, I am just replacing the old CPU of our desktop.

Repair right away!

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

I know that many of you out there are suffering from bad credit decisions in the past. I suffered from it myself. My sister is feeling the effect of her past credit decisions that turned into a nightmare. Bad financial decisions could hurt a lot. But you can turn it into a learning experience so that in the future, you will be able to avoid making the same mistakes.

For those who need it, there is a Free Credit Repair that can “clean” your bad credit report. Go to Cheap Credit Cards and make sure that you seek their help in getting your records “cleaned”. It is actually a system wherein you will ask for a copy of your credit report and then follow their step-by-step tutorial on how to repair your bad credit standing. But if you want it easier for you, you can even ask for their help to find a lawyer who will do everything for you.

After that, you can now Apply Online For Credit Cards. There are even those who are willing to take the risk of activating credit cards for those with bad credit. Or even find accommodating Home Loan Lenders.

Go ahead and visi Cheap-Credit-Cards.org now and repair that credit right away!

Lesson learned: Update your anti-virus program!

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Today is a very disappointing day for me. I lost all 3GB of my files! It’s not much but it contains all my photos, blog files, drafts I have yet to publish, wordpress themes I’ve used and chosen for future use, notes, and so much more. I lost the heart of my blogging life. All because I don’t update my anti-virus program. I turned off updates and have forgotten thrice now to buy a new AV. My cousin had to do a full reformat of David, my laptop :(

It hurts to know that I can never recover those files anymore. Thank goodness I don’t delete all email attachments. At least I could find some there. But the important ones are forever lost to me…

So lesson learned for today? Update your anti-virus program! Scan your computer daily. Beware of what you download on the net.

I hope you don’t have to learn it the hard way like me.

Google Android

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Do you know that Google has acquired an operating system that they will use for the smartphone they will soon be launching? It is called Google Android. You go to this link for the android download. This is much the same operating system that my smartphone is using, I believe. Developed for phones so one can use it for applications and more sophisticated games.

When you go to Google Android’s web site, you can download android games. You know, before I purchased my smartphone, I did not really like phone games. But when you are standing on a long line, waiting for something, waiting for your turn, you will learn to appreciate things like phone games. I once waited for 30 minutes for my turn in a long line of people having their pre-employment exams. Thanks to my pacman phone game, I never realized the wait until my name was called.

At Android’s web site, you can also download android applications. Now this is what I love about smartphones. The ability to be able to install applications that will make your life easier and happier. What I have on my smartphone right now are different applications but my favorite is the ebook reader.

So if you are a person always on the go and is considering a Google smartphone, Android is the operating system you need. Go ahead and visit their web site now for more information.
