…is not an easy role. I have more than a dozen godchildren now. Majority of whom are kids of close friends of mine. The thing with us godparents is that when our godchild is living far away from us, we tend to take them for granted, greeting them via Facebook or a text message and then we would just say “utang na lang muna regalo ni ninong/ninang ha?” Huh! Don’t deny it! You know you’ve been there not just once but many times already.
I am guilty of this. I have a pile of ‘debts’ to some of my godchildren. So this year I am already planning on giving their Christmas gifts this coming November. The earlier, the better for me. Because come the middle of December until after the first week of January, life’s one big crazy ball rolling in all directions. That’s my life.
Priorities. I will buy those little envelopes now and will allot money as it flows in for each of my godchildren I’ve neglected over the years.
