Year to live right
One of my goals for 2009 is to get at least a term life insurance for me and my dad. You just never know what will happen in the future. Health care is also another matter I will be making sure I will secure this first quarter of the year. I will be prioritizing all the important things this 2009. It will be the year to live the right way for me. I hope it will be for you, too.

Promotion
Despite being the holiday season and all, my cousin is very busy with his work. He is undergoing CDL training right now. He is up for a promotion this coming January and he’s preparing for it in every way he can. He wants to make sure that no one will whisper behind his back that he does not deserve the promotion. He is relatively new to the company, only seven months actually. But since he has the experience for the higher vacant position, he was immediately considered for the position. And now he got it, he wants nothing to hinder his advance to a management post.

Alexa Rank
There was a sudden dip in Alexa ranking across the blogosphere the other day when they did their usual update. I wondered how come some of my blogs went back to the millionth rank and one got back a No Data.
I contacted Alexa support to ask what happened. And I got this response from them:
Thank you for contacting Alexa Internet about the inconsistent/inaccurate traffic data on our website. A recent change to our servers resulted in our erroneously displaying traffic data that was out of date. (It was from November.) We have implemented a change to those servers and anticipate current, accurate ranking information to be displayed on alexa.com shortly. We appreciate your having brought the bug to our attention and regret any inconvenience.
For future use, you may wish to download the Alexa Toolbar as a bug on our website like this does not affect the Alexa Toolbar. The correct Traffic Rank is displayed in either the Alexa Toolbar for IE or Alexa Sparky for Firefox. You can download these free tools here: http://download.alexa.com/

So my border was right. It was a system glitch. Anyway, as they have said in their email, expect the rankings to be back to normal within the day. I just like how they reply fast to emails sent to them. This is the third time I used their contact form and in all three cases, they responded within a few hours.
WAH Moments: Christmas parties
My sisters are all going crazy about Christmas parties they need to attend. When you are working at home, of course, there are no office Christmas parties for you to attend to. I miss the chaos in the office while people are preparing for the Christmas party.
One of the companies I’ve been with is big on holiday parties. There are parties for each department, each location, and then the big one where every one converge. Since the Accounting and Finance department is the biggest department in the company, it is a big deal among the Finance executives. They would allot a portion of the savings in supplies and even donate a portion of their salaries for the event. That one party was actually one of the most memorable Christmas parties I participated in my entire career.
I miss participating in the preparation. The food, the games, the singing…

Meeting online
I saw a piece of paper that I inserted in a calendar notebook I had. It was written there that an online friend is staying at a vegas hotel and that another online friend of ours will be meeting up with him there. I remember being so envious because they were having fun and they finally saw each other after more than two years of just “seeing” each other online. That was then. I saw them already when they went here in the country for a vacation. And oh, the two of them are married with two kids now.

Struggle
I am honest enough to admit that I really struggle with my weight. You might think I am just lamenting about it and not doing anything to remedy this weight problem of mine. The truth is, short of drinking a weight loss pill, I have tried almost everything there is. I am still trying my best to stay on track. I am not getting any younger and I know that with our family history, I should start taking care of my health more.
