Chetan Kapur Reflects On Advantages Of Small Publishing Houses

With almost a decade in the business of selling books published by independent or little-known publishing houses, Chetan Kapur has found a niche market. While bestseller titles may suit the masses, there are certainly a considerable number of people searching for books by new authors, on esoteric topics, or local publishers. It is this latter group that Chetan Kapur caters to with his five book stores outside of Oklahoma City.

Chetan Kapur Enjoys The Unique Outlooks And Opinions

“Independent publishers are often able to utilize their publications to directly address their chosen topics without censorship or editorial reins. Readers get a unique, unfiltered perspective, which can be very different from the mainstream or accepted view. My customers find this refreshing, educational, and enlightening,” said Chetan Kapur of his stores’ selection.

Chetan Kapur also feels as though independently published books (or those from a small publishing house) aren’t of lower value or quality as those sold in big box stores. “Times have been tough over the last couple of years, and many authors take the option of self-marketing and lower exposure to get their words to the public. The success of my bookstore chain has proven that the public wants to read these books,” concluded Chetan Kapur.
