Making it big

A friend of mine flew in from Georgia a couple of days before December. She is very much interested in staying put in the country and opening a business of her own. She has been studying a lot of franchise businesses that are doing great in the country. Convenience stores, fruit shake stands, rice-in-a-bowl stands, internet cafes… she is looking into a lot of businesses right now. As an accountant, I advised her to look into the profitability of the business before anything else. What is the ROI and such. Also, she needs to know a lot in any of the businesses she will get into before she decides to go for it. I told her that she probably needs to do a Neil Crespi before anything else. Create a profile of who she really is, her skills, her capacity. Then she should list down the business that complements whatever skills she have and then list down what else she needs to know about that particular business.
If she really wants to make it big in the small businesses arena of the moment, then she better equip herself with all the necessary tools she will need in business.
