Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining, Even Gold Sometimes…

Guess who is back? Me!!! Though I can’t promise that I’d be able to update my blog everyday or join all my favorite memes but I will whenever I can. I’ve got a complicated pregnancy and on top of that I’ve gone through hell and back with all the misfortunes that befell me.
During the last week of November, while I’m having a very delicate pregnancy, my integrity at work was questioned. I’ve painstakingly built my reputation in the company for 8 years. Eight long years of clean slate and not once that I’ve experienced being doubted upon by the management. It has something to do with supposed Daily Time Record “tampering.” I was shocked and hurt for being accused of such a thing. I would never ever think of biting the hand that has been loving and nurturing me for 8 years now. Some few months ago before that incident and while I was still on maternity leave due to miscarriage, I submitted an application form to have my Id changed from my maiden name to my married name. That was last August. Imagine that when I finally came back to work last September 3 it was still not changed. After more than a month Human Resources informed me that I’ve got a new ID already and they will be deactivating my old one. I was pretty excited to get hold of my new ID but my excitement did not last long because even though the photo was updated my surname remained the same, still my maiden name. So they needed to get the erroneous ID back fm me to fix it. I was left with the old and already non-working one. I told HR the possible issues of me not having a record of my time-ins and time-outs but they assured me that everything will be taken cared of. But despite of numerous follow-ups, nothing happened. I still can’t swipe my old ID nor can I enter my time-ins and time-outs manually. And that’s where the big problem arose. Though my new Id has already been provided to me last October 24, my new superior did not approve my DTR because of the blank entries for the previous cut-off and what’s worst was that she questioned my honesty. She even told me that the manager knew about my “case” and will have a talk with me come Monday and will require me to create a memo particularly Notice to Explain. That was Friday, November 23. She did not even spare me the anxiety and fear that I might lose my job and I might lose my precious baby again because of too much worrying. Three agonizing nights of thinking why HR denied that I had a problem with my ID according to her statement? And what if the manager won’t listen to me and will accuse me of being guilty in spite of my explanations? What would become of me then? I was crying because I don’t want to lose my job while my integrity was in question and how can I ever say goodbye to friends that I’ve grown to love like siblings? And to add insult to injury, a very good friend of mine texted me and said that d rumor about my “tampering” has already spread to another floor. I was so problematic. I’m so ruined I said to myself. Monday could be my last day already and I don’t know if there’s something really bad happening to my baby inside of me. I was experiencing some sort of cramping on my lower abdomen and I know that I shouldn’t be feeling any pain because I’m pregnant.
Before I went to work on Monday, I’ve mumbled a heartfelt prayer. I said, “Lord, I will tell the truth and will not lie about anything. I just hope that truth shall prevail in the end and it shall set me free.” When I stepped on our floor the first person that I’ve met was our manager. We exchanged our pleasantries and though my hands were shaking I’ve managed to ask her if we could talk privately which she gladly accommodated. I’ve explained my side even before I was asked to do so. Then it hit me! Something fishy is going on because my manager was clueless as to what I was ranting about. Why wouldn’t she know it when I was specifically told that she knew all about it and will discuss it with me on Monday? Meaning someone’s lying and definitely not me! My manager believed me without asking for any more proofs. She said that she would not even require me to create a memo explaining my side because she knows how hard working I am and keeping a very clean record for 8 years is really hard to maintain but I managed to do so. She knows that I’m a good person and will never cheat our company. I was teary eyed because of so much happiness. My manager believed my words over my superior’s. God is so good! Had I not talked with our manager first I just don’t know how else she could have twisted the truth. It made me feel good and more confident that no matter what other people would say someone believed in me and knows that I’m innocent. To cut the story short, I’ve made my own investigations and found out that she made a big fuss out of it with the intent to malign me. It was pure and unadulterated character assassination for reasons unknown to me because I haven’t done anything wrong to her and she was even present at the most important day of my life, my wedding last April. When she was still just a regular colleague of mine and not yet my superior. When I still thought she was my friend.
But as the old adage goes, every cloud has a silver lining and there would be rainbow after the storm. I’ve gained two important learning with what happened to me; first always give yourself a little more credit and you’ll really know who your real friends are when you are down in the dumps. I’m glad that this happened to me because I now know who among my friends are for keeps. Thank you BSE Cyborgs, Mems, She, Arn and Bes Peach. If not for you guys, I would have just given up the fight just to put an end to it but you did not let me. Thanks for not letting me quit and fight for my worth as an employee, colleague and most of all as a human being. I love you guys a great deal!
