Food Friday: Dragon Fruit

Friday, July 18th, 2008

We bought some fruits a couple of days ago when we went grocery shopping. I haven’t tasted a dragon fruit yet so we bought two. Unfortunately, my sister thought I didn’t want it so they ate it and did not leave anything for me. Will just buy one again :)

Have you tasted this unusual fruit yet?

Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend!

Vintage and funny

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

I just love the funny t shirts that my sister, Grace, bought for her friends. She also bought one for herself. It actually has funny quotes about strong women and weak men. Of course, the quotes are not mean but are just funny ones. She also bought some vintage shirts for me and our other sisters.

My sister, Grace, is a teacher at one of the prestigious Chinese schools here in the metro. She can be a bit stiff, owing to the fact that she is used to dishing out discipline. The funny shirts can be a reminder to her to cut herself some slack from time to time. It is a reminder to her to chill and that there is life outside of school. It is for the same reason why she bought her teacher-friends the same funny t shirts. There are nights when I see her frowning all the time, thinking about her students and tomorrow’s lessons. She seriously needs to chill out. Thanks to the shirts, she will be reminded to relax from time to time.

If you also want those funny and vintage t shirts, you can order some at Vintage T Shirt Store. The online shop offers a wide range of vintage and funny t shirts. Simply pick they funny image you like, pick the shirt and color of the shirts and order it up. Check out the site now for more information.

Bundle offers

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

I always go for bundles. Offers that come in packages where I can save some money when I subscribe to it. Had I known that I can get a cable tv and internet connection subscription package in one, I would have gotten it rather than subscribing in two different lines. You can relate to what I am saying if you take a look at the newest ATT offers.

Do you know that there are bundle offers from AT&T and that you can save money from it? You can get a phone + internet service bundle that AT&T offers for only $36.99/month. It comes with unlimited local calling, a 3.0 Mbps DSL internet connection, and AT&T ONE RATE. For the unlimited calling and the internet connection alone, this bundle is a bargain, I tell you!

And then there’s the popular bundle they offer that includes phone, internet and ATT satellite tv (available through Dish Network) for only $72.67.month. A 3.0 Mbps DSL internet connection, unlimited local and long distance calling, and 200+ digital quality channels through Dish Network are included in the bundle. The last offer is The Total Package that can be yours for only $107.98/month. This last package are for those people who are heavily using resources to network, I believe.

I still prefer the first offer. Anyway, I know that bloggers out there receive ATT Internet offers left and right. Before you consider any of those offers, better check out the bundle offers from AT&T first. Get the package that suits your needs and that your budget can afford. Go and learn more about these offers from www.ATTSavings.com now.

Kidnap

Monday, July 14th, 2008

I watched ABS-CBN’s special news show entitled Kidnap. It was all about the kidnapping and eventual release of the tv network’s prime reporter Ces Drilon and her two cameramen Jimmy Encarnacion and Angelo Valderama. The tv special captured what was running in the minds of these three people while being held by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).

While watching the show, you can see and feel the trauma that the group experienced. Ces is probably still experiencing it all. You can just see it on her face. It was also a very moving narration of what transpired, what happened that the cameras were not able to capture. What touched me the most was the phone conversations between Ces and her brother. At one point, Ces tearfully said to her brother… “Sorry ha” (I’m sorry). I really cried that time. It must be really hard for her thinking that her family were not just worrying about her but also gathering their savings to complete the 5Million pesos ransom money that ASG will get to release Ces and the others.

Another touching part was the narration of how both Angelo and Jimmy’s respect for her somehow saved Ces from the malicious intentions of the ASG. Ces kept on saying that the two guys really took care of her. And to punctuate their respect for Ces, the two cameramen said that they will go anywhere, even back to the ASG’s den, as long as they’re with Ces.

I don’t know why the government still cannot bring down this ASG. What they did to Ces’ group and to those they previously captured (some beheaded, some released that included Gracia Burnham) is simply horrible. I cannot begin to imagine the horrors that these three people went through, especially Ces. Someone should do something to this group fast. Otherwise, a kidnapping will happen again soon. And this time, who knows what will happen to the victims.

Do you want to have your kid have his or her own story? If you do, I suggest you go to Personalized Stories now. They have children’s books that are based on your kid’s experiences. Or your kid is the main protagonist of the story. What I like about the idea is that kids can treasure the books even when they are already old. Parents can also read the book to their kid from time to time. Parents can read stories personalized for their kids with values and moral lessons that the kids can learn.

Upgrading desktop?

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Our desktop is malfunctioning already. It’s been with us for more than three years now so I guess it has served its purpose. I am thinking of upgrading it but my cousin told me that it would be less costly if I just buy a new one than have the old one upgraded. I think I will just buy a new laptop so that there will be less cables running around the back of the desk plus it will be more convenient for us. I already have one that I was able to buy at a great price locally. I will just have to buy another one like the laptop I have right now for my siblings.

Red juice

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

I watched an episode of Korina Sanchez’s Rated K about losing weight. She featured the Red Juice that not only helps one lose weight like Phentermine but also helps in curing other illnesses. Quite a number of persons testified to the effectiveness of the product that a friend of my sister tried it. You know what, it really works. She lost 10 pounds already, and counting. She consumed the red juice as instructed and exercised regularly. Of course, it might have a different effect on other people. You just never know if an experimental product like this can be effective to two different persons.

Working at home

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Working at home has its own advantages and disadvantages. One of the advantages is that, there is no rush hour that you have to beat on a daily basis. And one of the disadvantages is that you have to run errands for the elders. Like my aunt kindly asked if I can go to the mall and look for Ladybug steam cleaners for her. I don’t mind running errands for them but there are days when I don’t feel like doing it, to be honest. Then again, running errands is still much better than working for a self-righteous boss. I’d take the former anytime of the day.

Clothes dryer

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

In our household, we have someone who does the laundry for us. With all of us working, it seems much wiser to pay someone to do that chore for us. What we have are dryers so that the laundry woman can just bring the washed clothes over and dry it. With the unpredictable weather, dryers are really important. Like for our family, with so many clothes being washed on a thrice-weekly scheduled laundry, if the clothes won’t dry right away as it should, there will be problems where it will have to be hanged to dry.
