What’s gotten into me?

Monday, May 5th, 2008

I am now reviving this site. I’ve posted a lot of sponsored posts already and I guess it’s time to update this with something that will keep my visitors coming back for more. lol. Just kidding. But honestly, I want to bring back the old blog of mine - no pretentions and straight to the point. I was just waiting for something last time. My plan was to recreate this blog including the layyie, content and everything. But sad to say, I don’t have the FTP access for this that’s why I can’t upload a new theme.

Well, for now, I’ve got to go. I need to catch up on some things - work, money stuff and whatsoever. I’ll be glad to hear from you, guys, as soon as possible so drop me a message on my chat box (see the one on the right side) and I will surely get back to you for sure (unless the message you’ll be leaving doesn’t say something like - ‘Care to ex link? - and the likes.) Till next post. Ba-bush.

Luck for me.

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Moving out from your old hometown simply makes one feel very sad. That is actually how I felt right now because aside from the fact that you’ll be missing your old school gimmicks, moving in to a new place means making new adjustments. And I’m a bit tired of adapting to change. Things which happened these past few months seem to happen in a blink of an eye and I am about to get suffocated. I need some air to breathe, space and time to think, and of course, to adjust.

I was actually asked by mom and dad to look for a new place, and it’s not very easy. I have to consider a lot of things - budget, environment, proper air ventilation , indoor lighting, and best of all, the 24/7 water and electricity. I can’t say no to them because I just can’t! Wish me luck in my life. I need it badly.. asap.

Vivid memory.

Monday, April 21st, 2008

I met my networking professor in the mall last weekend. He was not actually my favorite and we only talk when in I’m in a class discussion. Other than that, we have no any other mode of communication. He said he still works in PAL and he doesn’t teach anymore. It was only a quick chat and we head on to our own business afterwards.

Seeing him again actually made me reminisce a bit of my networking days. It was not a fun subject and I admit that I don’t excel in his class that much. I remember him having a crush on my close friend; letting us memorize the different cables and its use like the CAT5e, CAT6, optic fiber cables; promoting PAL; and him being strict on our answers in his exams. Well, that’s my vivid memory of him. I hope to bump into him once again and this time, I’ll talk to him longer.

Dreaming in daylight.

Friday, March 14th, 2008

It’s time to talk about cars once again! During our lunch break, we went down to our building’s lobby to take catch up on each other’s stories. While chatting, the owner of our company passed by. He was actually driving his brand new car, which is a black Volvo, and his driver trailing behind his car driving a Jeep SUV. We were strucked for several seconds then we started talking about cars and its accessories. We ended up with the ladder racks and the company service cars like what the PLDT or Meralco use. Cable company cars also have this ladder racks installed on them. If only we were rich enough to afford those luxury cars, we’ll be realized that the time is up, we went back to our office and concentrated on our work. It was back to normal.

Traveling.

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

I had a rerun of the RV film which stars Robin Williams, JoJo, and others. While seeing it, it made me think about the travel trailers like the one they had on the movie. Do we have that kind here in our country? Uhm, maybe not. But I guess it is great to have one especially when you love traveling. Plus if you have a big family and you want them to go along with you in your trips, trailers will come in handy. I guess it is only available in US and I’m not sure if it exists already in other countries.

Online things.

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

When I was still in school, I remember some of my classmates who are into branded clothes, bags, and many other things. In our terms, we call it “uso” or the “in style” in fashion. Anyway, back in school then there are fashionistas and whenever there is an event, you’d see them well-dressed from head to toe. Well, those are old memories… but now that I am working, I get to buy the things I want for myself may it be clothes, perfume, shoes, bags, and so much more. Sometimes I’d even ask a friend from US to buy some things for me. And I heard that recently he has some Macys coupons with him so I’d better check out some things over the net. Maybe some new boardshorts for this summer will be good.

How to?

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Talking about networking cables once again, let me elaborate what a Cat 5 cable is. It consists of four twisted pairs of copper wire terminated by RJ45 connectors. Cat-5 cabling supports frequencies up to 100 MHz and speeds up to 1000 Mbps. It can be used for ATM, token ring, 1000Base-T, 100Base-T, and 10Base-T networking. Attaching an RJ45 to the ends of the said cable is so easy. Simply get a crimper and do this.

1. Skin off the cable jacket approximately 1″ or slightly more.
2. Un-twist each pair, and straighten each wire between the fingers.
3. Place the wires in the order of one of the two diagrams shown above (568B or 568A). Bring all of the wires together, until they touch. (Diagram: http://www.lanshack.com/make-cat5E.aspx)
4. At this point, recheck the wiring sequence with the diagram.
5. Optional: Make a mark on the wires at 1/2″ from the end of the cable jacket.

6. Hold the grouped (and sorted) wires together tightly, between the thumb, and the forefinger.
7. Cut all of the wires at a perfect 90 degree angle from the cable at 1/2″ from the end of the cable jacket. This is a very critical step. If the wires are not cut straight, they may not all make contact. We suggest using a pair of scissors for this purpose.

7B. Conductors should be at a straight 90 degree angle, and be 1/2″ long, prior to insertion into the connector.

8. Insert the wires into the connector (pins facing up).

9. Push moderately hard to assure that all of the wires have reached the end of the connector. Be sure that the cable jacket goes into the back of the connector by about 3/16″.

9. Place the connector into a crimp tool, and squeeze hard so that the handle reaches it’s full swing.

10. Repeat the process on the other end. For a straight through cable, use the same wiring. For a “crossover” cable, wire one end 568A, and the other end 568B.
11. Use a cable tester to test for proper continuity.

Dreaming.

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

I am 100% sure that everyone has dreamt of having their own dream house. And yes, I am guilty of that. I’ve started dreaming of it when I first played my doll house. I even remember making a sketch of the floor plan of my dream house. Haha. And as I grew older, this dream has remained with me and some decorations and furnitures has improved in my mind, too. And now that I’m working and earning for myself, this dream is still very clear to me and I want to make it real! I would browse in my free time for a good looking house and furnitures like the Coaster furniture, shades of the walls, and a whole lot more. And it will be a sense of fulfillment once I made it for real - my dream house.

Activity.

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

In my college days, we had this Networking subject under a very strict professor. He would use an LCD projector and would discuss to us the topics about networking stuff. If he caught anyone who isn’t listening to him, he’d be mad, plus he will also make sure to ask you several questions before the lesson ends.

But one of the topics which I’ll never forget is about the cables like the fiber cable, CAT 5e and so on. There is this time when we attached 2 RJ-45s at both ends of a Cat 5e cable using a crimper. Though it is a very simple exercise, I had fun doing it.
