Another one for the books…

My aunt called me up last night around 11 PM. She was foaming mad with a major credit card company here in the country. She got her bill yesterday and was only able to see it last night. She noticed that there was a double posting of an amount she incurred when she went grocery shopping. She immediately called up the credit card company’s customer support and reported the double posting. Guess what the guy rep told her…

“Ma’am, just pay the amount and we’ll see what we can do.”

My aunt was so shocked that she asked the guy rep if he’s serious. And he was! The amount my aunt was complaining about is 9,000 pesos. Not a paltry amount, especially with the state of economy now.

My aunt called up a bank officer that she knows and she was told to just make a formal complaint letter and to fax it to the billing department so they can check.

If nothing will happen to my aunt’s complaint, I will post here the name of the bank and credit card company. Again, local companies should make their customer service better. Improve your after sales service if you want return customers!

Influenza A(N1H1) virus

I am not that concerned with the Influenza A(N1H1) virus. That’s because I work at home hehe. No, seriously, I am more concerned with my sister who teaches at a Chinese school in Manila. Her students went on vacation abroad, based on emails and Friendster/YM messages she got from them. There are suggestions from co-teachers that they postpone opening of classes in their school, just to make sure that those students coming in from different parts of the world have enough time to know if they have been infected or not. No word from their school head as to what the decision is.

For now, she’s taking multivitamins to help make her immune system stronger. The same goes for my other sister who rides the MRT going to the office on weekdays. She also had a flu shot last month. I don’t know if it will help ward off the virus, but I hope it does.

There has been a confirmed case of the A(N1H1) virus in the country already. I hope every one who was on that same flight as the 10-year-old child will cooperate with the authorities concerned so as not to spread the virus in the country.

Costly education

Life in general

I just got the assessment form for my brother’s first semester in second year college. Can you guess how big my eyes became when I saw the tuition fees? Yes, that big! Only one thing crossed my mind while I was looking at the total amount I need to pay… if not for the state colleges, I wonder how parents earning a minimum salary can send their children to college. It would be really hard.

Times are tough and it becomes tougher each day. I hope every kid out there are already enrolled and ready to go back to school come June 1st.

Whatever happened to the Italian Red Cross volunteer worker, Eugenio Vagni, kidnapped by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG)? A little less than an hour ago, I read that there was a clash between our military and the ASG.

Lt. Col. Edgard Arevalo, the military spokesman on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) crisis, said the clash took place at about 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday in sitio Bunga, barangay Buanza in the town of Indanan.

But did you know that according to Lt. Col. Arevalo, there was no sighting of the Italian ICRC worker. Vagni is said to be suffering from hernia and is really sick.

I hope and pray that a good news will be announced soon and it will be Vagni’s release from the hands of the ASG.
