Home-office corner setup

Couples Workspaces

I am looking for ideas on work spaces for home. My home-office corner setup is no longer working for me. Aside from the fact that I am surrounded by books, papers and other stuff, my corner has become really messy already. I want organizers and a wider desk and a more comfortable chair.

I will look around and see what I can find. Then I’ll share it with you.

Happy Friday everyone!

Missing the office

Office Setup

To be honest, I miss going to the office daily. I miss the coffee down the building or having breakfast at the corner carinderia or at the building cafeteria. I miss the conference room. I miss having my own cubicle, desk, computer stuff. I have my own home-office set up at home: my own desk, desktop and laptop and other office stuff. But there’s something about the office environment and the feeling of you belong to a team working towards a common goal.

I keep telling my sisters that I might go back soon. Very soon, in fact. I am already checking out job openings. I am checking with friends. I am planning every thing, even losing weight so I can wear my old corporate attires again.

I miss the routine and I know I will get back to it. Really, really soon.

*keeping my fingers crossed

Busy weekend for me

I love being busy! Whereas some people do not like it when work piles up, I thrive on it. I love seeing there’s too much work to be done because that way I know I still have a job and that at the end of the month I will be earning something from it.

It will be a very busy weekend for me.

Happy weekend everyone! Enjoy and have fun with the family!

Tweet! Tweet!

I love Twitter! I think I spend more time there than in Facebook. Updates are faster and there is more direct interaction than on Facebook. In Twitter, you can mention people you are not connected with unlike in Facebook where you have to be friends with the person or like the page about the person before you can interact with him/her. There’s also big possibility that those persons can read your tweets which is really exciting for an ordinary individual like me.

Take for example this favorite author of mine that I found in Twitter. I mentioned her and, wonder of wonders(!), she responded to my tweet! Can you imagine how that tweet made my day?

If you don’t have a Twitter account yet, or you don’t know what it’s all about, I suggest you go and open an account now. You can find me there at http://twitter.com/sacreyes. Let’s connect and exchange tweets!

Are you an oDesk user?

I’ve been working at home for close to six years already. I was working as an accounting manager before I decided to quit and work at home. I’ve been doing freelance work mostly on writing content and some audit work on the side. Needless to say I found this style of working more fulfilling, especially in terms of financial outcome at the end of every month.

For the past 5 years, I’ve been hearing about oDesk.com and how so many people are earning a lot from it. The site is all about freelance offers for content writer, article writer, e-book writer/editor, virtual assistant, telemarketer, SEO specialist, etc. There’s a lot of work there for those willing to work for a small sum of money in exchange for a possible long-term arrangement (read: steady source of work and income).

I personally know blogger-friends who have really earned from oDesk and since some paid programs are not giving enough amount of work anymore, I decided to finally open an oDesk account of my own. I haven’t done the oDesk test yet so I can bid for jobs but I will as soon as possible.

Holidays is slowly approaching. This is the time for all of us to start saving so that we have something to tap on during that festive season.

Have you tried oDesk.com yet? Do you have an account there? What can you say about the service?
