An attack of spam!

I noticed an increase in the number of spam comments left in five of my blogs. I don’t know why and I’ve been observing it for now. I’m banning IP addresses of the spammers but it seems to me they’re just using another IP to leave more spam comments.

I don’t know if you are doing the same thing but I check spam comments daily, sometimes twice or thrice a day. This blog was attacked by a script virus of some kind in the past. I don’t want that to happen again. I got it from a spam comment and that attack left me working on all my blogs for three days.

Check your spam comments daily. Delete it. Do not let it sit idle there taking up precious space.

A new header

If you haven’t noticed it yet, this blog now has a new header. Thanks to my friend Shen for creating the header for me.

I actually wanted a new header, a simple one. I searched for an idea and when I found it, I told Shen to use it as a pattern for the header that I asked her to create. And she did it!

It’s a very simple one compared to the old header I have but these days simplicity is what I am after.

What do you think of my new header? Like it?

Maynilad web site and hotline

I wrote about Maynilad Water a few times in 2009. It was connected to shortage of water supply and my experience dealing with Maynilad’s customer service. Since I am used to dealing with so-so customer service here in the country, I was suprised that Maynilad’s customer service was actually pretty good. I wrote about it, even putting the Maynilad 24/7 Customer Service Hotline 1626 here.

Since I wrote about Maynilad, I’ve been getting comments asking for help regarding water supply. One woman even left a heartfelt plea for Maynilad to give back their water supply since she already paid their overdue account. I try as best I can to reply to all the comments but some emails left were either erroneously written or bogus.

Let me just reiterate once again that I am in no way affiliated to Maynilad Water Services. I just wrote about that satisfactory one-time customer service experience I had with them. You may contact Maynilad directly through their Hotline 1626 or through their web site at http://www.mayniladwater.com.ph.

Friend requests

I got a friend request from a high school classmate. I think I mentioned it in the past that my Facebook account is only for the people with whom I really interact with. Or to those with whom I want to reconnect with. From time to time, I accept friend requests from old classmates. But I check their profiles first since I want to know if they are the same person I’ve known in the past.

This old high school classmate of mine was not really a friend. I barely talked to her in class. We were only classmates in freshmen year. After that, I didn’t know what happened to her anymore.

So I checked her Facebook profile. And boy did she looked crazy to me! Literally crazy! She also looked like she’s in the flesh trade, if you know what I mean.

I ignored her friend request. As I’ve said in the past, my Facebook account is not there to win the most number of friends in the history of social networking. It’s there to communicate with friends and love ones. I really ignore friend requests from persons I am not interested in becoming friends with. Or to those who look totally weird or crazy to me. Like that old high school classmate.

Do you approve all Facebook friend requests you get?
