In a funk!

Not in the mood

When I am not in the mood, I hardly finish the things I need to do. It is hard to bring me back to my old routine. I find all sorts of reasons not to do the work I need to do. That’s me.

But once I break out of the funk I am in, expect me to work like crazy.

For now, I am in between. I am not yet out of the funk but I am already getting there.

Online Sellers

I was going through Facebook pages I liked when I came upon this article in the Female Network about the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to require online sellers to issue receipts and pay taxes to the government.

Wow!

So the BIR is already targeting the small players who earn minimal profit. The small players who are mostly housewives, students and jobless people who try their best to earn enough to cover their monthly bills, and for the case of students, their monthly school allowance.

I wish the BIR would do something over the big-named Filipinos who employ the best accountants and auditors to cover their tracks in avoiding taxes. Instead of focusing on the small players who are just trying to earn a bit to help their families.

7 years and counting!

If you tell me seven years ago that I will resign from my corporate job to become a freelance consultant and full-time blogger, I would have laughed at your face. When it comes to my monthly income, I was not the risky type. I always went after what’s guaranteed. A monthly paycheck was a guaranteed one compared to going freelance.

But you know what? I did it. I ventured into the unknown. I took a risk and resigned from my corporate job.

And I never regretted that decision!

I am now happy with what I do. I was scared at first but eventually, I came to rely on my skills to see me through. I had some of the greatest times of my life in the first two years of going freelance. On the third year, there was a scare due to the recession that hit the world but I managed to stay afloat and see myself through it. And now, seven years later, I am still here, a freelance consultant and full-time blogger.

I know a lot of people felt I was wasting my CPA license writing for a living. I actually feel a little guilty for neglecting my license but I am happy with writing! I am happy being my own boss and nothing beats the fact that I get to stay with my family while earning.

If I can do this for the rest of my life, I will. I just wish more tasks will come and that Mr. G of the internet won’t be too harsh on us little bloggers trying to earn a living using the net.
