December 30 commemorates the dead anniversary of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. He was known as the great traveller and Germany was one of the countries he visited. He arrived February 3,1886 at Heidelberg. The town to him looked gay. On the streets he saw students with cups of different colors. Rizal lived in a boarding house costing him 28 euros a month. He found German life full of potatoes; potatoes in the morning and potatoes in the evening. In the Spring of 1886 he practiced as an assistant physician under the well-known ophthalmologist. Dr. Otto Becker, at the University of Heidelberg Eye Clinic for six months. During one of his walks in the hills above Heidelberg he met the Protestant pastor Karl Ullmer of Wilhelmsfeld, who invited him to Wilhelmsfeld, where he spent a few in the Pastor´s family and in their house. During his stayed with the Ullmer’s family, he found the tranquility but also interesting conversations and impulses to complete his strongly biographical novel “Noli Me Tangere” Dr. Rizal departed from Heidelberg on 9 August 1886 and travelled to various parts of Germany. This trip could be considered as a very significant and constructive aspect of his life because in the course of his travel he acquired a broad knowledge and deep understanding of Germany and its people, its history, culture, literature, customs and traditions which greatly influenced his two immortal novels, the “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo”. which served as an important impact on the fight of the Philippine people for freedom from Spanish colonial rule.

I was strucked by this song Pinoy Ako music at the top player

from orange and lemons (not that im promoting the Pinoy Big brother its their theme song) with this song, what tickered in my mind was “What does really mean being a Pinoy?” hmmm… as the song goes   ipakita mo ang tunay at kung sino ka mayroon masama at maganda wala naman perpekto basta magpakatotoo…Living abroad I have seen different people and culture, I can attest that every country has its own share of the good and the bad. In contrast to many others, however, we tend to dwell on the negative likethis one… very rampant with some of our kababayans specially here in our placethe Socially/Intelectually unproductive gossip and crab mentality. Ahhh!?#*… its sound that it is already hard to detach those traits with some of our Kababayans. Or better DEADMA is the best policy. Grrrr…if that’s the case its better to hang out with other races ratherthan to your own kind Enough said! But I believe everyone havethe positive side with in us.
