Top Tips For Maintaining Your Smartphone

It’s no secret that we have become a society filled with smartphones. In both the US and the UK, it’s said that around two-thirds of people own smartphones, many of which are used as the only means of getting online. With technology advancing the way it is and phones getting bigger, it’s no surprise that people are finding them more useful than ever. Smartphones aren’t cheap, either. So it is essential to make sure you’re looking after them with regular maintenance. Some top tips for easy maintenance include:

Getting A Case

There’s nothing much worse than dropping your phone and shattering the screen. It happens a lot, and there’s never a guarantee that you can fix it. You need to research Android and iPhone repair, and you will get an idea of if it’s repairable. The easy answer is to protect your phone with a case. If you know you often drop your phone, then get a case that will protect your phone against a lot of things and give you peace of mind. It may make it more substantial and bulkier, but it’s worth it.

Protect Your Screen

This should be one of the top priorities when you first get your phone; however, it’s never too late to start protecting your phone. Smartphones tend to be quite fragile, so consider a screen protector. Having a protector may keep your screen together if you drop the phone, and it also means it’s harder to scratch your screen. Make sure you get a protector that’s right for your phone, often it’s a sensible idea to have them installed professionally.

Avoid Water and Watch the Temperature

OK, so most of you wouldn’t put your phone in water deliberately, but lots of you may have experienced a time when you’ve accidentally got it wet. Whether it’s forgetting it’s in your pocket at the beach or dropping it down the loo, it’s probably happened at some point. They say that the most convenient way of helping this problem is to use uncooked dry rice. Just leave it overnight, and it’s said that it will relieve it of any moisture. You should also be mindful about leaving your phone out in the sun or a hot car it can wreak havoc on the batteries.

Keep it Clean

You may not be able to see dust, but this doesn’t mean they don’t find a way into your phone. Even if you’re using a case or screen protector, it always seems to find a way in. Too much dust and your phone’s performance can take a massive hit. You should be using a soft clean wipe to clean the screen regularly and every once in a while make sure you take off your case to wipe it over there too.

Look After Your Battery

Believe it or not, your phone isn’t supposed to be kept on charge continuously. This means that for all of us that put our phone on charge overnight, we are probably damaging the battery. The batteries in our phones will last longer and work better for longer if we only charge until it has reached the max.

Super Cool Bluetooth Gadgets

Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communication between two pieces of technology. Like your phone and your headphones for example. Over the years there have been more applications, and it’s not just for phones and computers anymore.

Fun fact: Ericsson actually created Bluetooth in 1994, but in recent years it has grown exponentially, and there are more cool gadgets to explore than ever.

Future Fun

Did you ever watch Back To The Future and fall a little bit in love with the cool futuristic trainers and the hoverboards of course. Well, you can now get Bluetooth hoverboards – and those trainers too. The SRX is an ultra cool hoverboard with Bluetooth speaker, self-balancing mode and speakers. The ultra in hipster fun.

Nothing Lost

Tile has been keeping people’s keys safe and sound for the last couple of years. Your phone can track the Tile and help you keep tabs on stuff. This little gadget works on keys, USB sticks and pretty much anything else you can loop it on to.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye

Swapping headphones that plug into your phone for either buds or wireless headphones are more common now. Wires can get caught, tangled and are a little bit annoying – so if you can swap ti wireless the do it! You can get a range of prices from £/$9 up to the hundreds depending on what you wanna spend.

Sporty Spice

Nike launched (and subsequently dropped) a line of smart shoes that send signals from the trainer to your mobile phone, so you can track jumps, calories, speed and more. You can still grab a pair on eBay and a few other sites, and actually, if you are looking for a way to track some simple stats, then there are great.

Lock It

There are a few convenient Bluetooth lock systems. One being the Lockitron, which has Bluetooth remote access – a failed Kickstarter project, but nonetheless, the founder raised 2.2 million to get it off the ground.

Second is the Goji smart lock. It’s a clever little gadget that detects your Bluetooth fob and will open sesame. But, of course, it only works for the person with the fob and comes with a set of mechanicals keys too. You are able to send virtual keys for people who might need access, and it even sends you pictures and videos.

Road Worthy

The Garmin HUD+ is a very cool piece of kit. It has a heads-up display that is projected onto your windscreen. It feeds off a Bluetooth enabled phone that has to be running the Garmin HUD app. This smart little thing means you don’t need to glance down to check ETA, speed, lane guidance, and more.

Of course, there are so many more exciting uses for Bluetooth technology, but some of the best gadgets are on this list. From finding keys to locking away valuables and letting you know it’s the third right after the roundabout. Isn’t technology cool!

4 Apple Products Every Apple Aficionado Must Have

Do you consider yourself an Apple aficionado, or are you really just someone who casually dabbles in their product lines? If it’s the former, then you should have the following products either already bought or as part of your shopping list when you’re out and about to buy Apple products in the Philippines. Anything less means that you’re not getting the true kind of Apple experience that you deserve, the kind of bleeding-edge tech that has made the visionary company a tough act to follow and compete with.

The Apple iPhone X 64 GB.

When it comes to Apple essentials, we have to start with the biggest and most important one on the list: namely, the iPhone X. This is the latest, state-of-the-art iteration of the mobile device that truly made Apple the electronics giant it is today. While it comes with all the improvements and refinements that we can expect to set it apart from the previous generation of iPhone, the iPhone X also sports some new bells and whistles that come from the bleeding edge of tech.

One notable example is the FaceID facial recognition system, wherein the iPhone creates a 3D map of your face using its TrueDepth front-facing camera system and uses that map as a fingerprint to unlock itself and other features with. This essentially makes your phone truly and utterly yours, as it won’t function unless it knows you’re the one holding it. Best of all, it uses infrared camera tech and machine learning in order to detect your face flawlessly even if you’re in the dark or if you’re wearing something like caps, glasses, and so on. Moreover, the fact that it’s using a 3D map of your face means that it can’t be fooled with pictures or masks of your face either.

The Apple Airpods

Let tangled earphone cables be a thing of the past with the Apple Airpods. Launched alongside Apple’s historical removal of the 3.5mm jack from their iPhone line, these tiny little technological wonders allow for a truly wireless mobile listening experience—literally! Pop them out from their charging case, and they’ll automatically sync to your active iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac—immediately turning on to pipe crystal-clear sound into your ears. They also automatically pause whatever’s going on once you take them out, allowing you to get back in the groove seamlessly once you put them back in.

Audio controls are simplified for your convenience too. Whether it’s adjusting the volume, changing tracks or even starting a call in the middle of your sound trip, all it takes is a double-tap and Siri will come up to help attend to your needs. As for battery life, you won’t have to worry about them going flat during your day, as the carrying case guarantees a charge that can last up to more than 24 hours.

With this kind of innovation driving all their products, it’s easy to see why Apple is at the forefront of mobile tech.

The Apple MacBook Air 13 inch 256 GB

Apple dominates when it comes to laptops as well, and this can be seen in none other than their Apple MacBook Air line of laptops. Made with the rationale that laptops should be as powerful as they can be while still being as portable as possible—i.e. not weighing you down like a thousand-pound barbell that you have to carry in a backpack or suitcase—the MacBook Air packs as much processing power as Apple can cram into it, while also sporting a feather-light weight and blade-thin profile. It’s the ultimate in on-the-go business convenience that’s straight out of science fiction.

In this, the Apple MacBook Air 13 inch 256 GB, one of the latest entrants in the MacBook Air line, continues that illustrious pedigree. For one, it sports a beastly 1.8GHz Intel Core i5 processor that can be Turbo Boosted up to 2.9 GHz, and is supported by 8GB 1600MHz of LPDDR3 memory. This means that whatever you’re doing on the go, this MacBook can handle it more than adequately. It’s no slouch when it comes to graphics either, with its integrated Intel HD Graphics 6000 card pumping out high-fidelity, high-quality visuals through its 1440 x 900 panel. Finally, it sports one of the best keyboards and trackpads ever made in the mobile tech market today, with smooth tactile action and pin-point accuracy following your every tap, click and swipe.

All of this, in a powerful package with a 12-hour long battery life and a total weigh-in of only 3 measly pounds. Whether you’re an Apple fanatic or you simply travel a lot in your line of work, the Macbook Air is a godsend and an essential.

The Apple 12W USB Power Adapter

All your Apple devices need an adapter to charge. However, you just can’t use any adapter you have lying around the house, even if the connections match and they do work. This is because third-party chargers have a higher chance of failing, and can easily damage your Apple gadgetry if you’re not careful. Protect yourself from that heartbreak in the making by only using first-party power adapters, such as the Apple 12W USB Power Adapter. It can charge any Apple product, so long as it has a Lightning connector, that is. It also features folding prongs so you won’t have to worry about it getting damaged (or damaging your stuff) if you toss it in your bag along with your other electronics.

Make your mark as a true Apple aficionado, and include these items as part of your daily loadout. In doing so, you not only prove your loyalty to this innovative and groundbreaking tech company, you’ll also be making your digital life all that much easier.

Study App Makes History Learning Interesting

The reason why many students do not like history is because they find it very boring. You can do a survey and you will find that the survey will show that most students rather not study history as a subject. Many think that history is not important and they don’t understand why they have to study history. They dread attending history classes because the teachers will just talk about things and incidents in the past, of people who were long ago dead and all the boring dates to remember. To these students, history is just a dead subject.

inventions

The reason why we need to learn history is because it is from history that we get to know about the past and how we came to be in our present situation. In fact, there are many things we can learn from history. From history, we learned about the mistakes and the decisions people made in the past that contributed to our current situation. Hopefully, we will learn from the mistakes of others and not repeat the mistakes ourselves. When we study history, we learn and understand our culture from our forefathers’ days. We also study about the wars they fought, the sacrifices they made for the country, and the treaties signed for peace.

technology

Streaming Services Vs Cable TV: Which Is Best For You?

Everyone likes to settle down and watch their favorite movies and TV shows from time to time. With Christmas just around the corner, I know plenty of you will have lots of free time on your hands. No doubt you’ve already ordered some cosy blankets and a truckload of popcorn to prepare for a winter binge of all the great movies and TV you missed out on this year. The only question on your lips is; what’s the best way to watch everything?

Well, most people have two options; subscribe to a streaming service or buy cable TV. Both of these ideas are both good in their own right, and there’s no real ‘winner’ per say. Instead, they suit different types of people. So, let’s compare the two and see which one may be best for you!

Cable TV

There are plenty of ups and downs with cable TV. The main positive is that you get a lot more available to you. They tend to have lots of channels packed full of movies, and you also get to see TV shows when they’re first aired. If you stream TV shows, then you’re likely going to have to wait until the series is finished before it comes to the service. The only exceptions are shows that are made for the streaming platforms. So, if you’re someone that hates spoilers and needs to stay up-to-date with the best shows, then cable tv packages are more your thing. Plus, movie channels tend to get new movies before streaming services too. A lot of them have options to buy or rent the movie as soon as it’s out on Blu-Ray, which is good for anyone that can’t wait too!

Another big plus point is that you also get a kind of streaming service in on-demand TV. Loads of providers will give you access to a library of on-demand shows that you can stream whenever you want. This means that, if you missed the season finale of a Game Of Thrones because you were working, you could stream it almost immediately after it’s aired. Similarly, you can record live TV, which means you can record entire series of movies to watch when you want, and fast forward through any commercials!

I find there are two main downsides of cable TV. The first is that they often don’t have a lot of what streaming services have. A streaming service could have a bigger catalogue of TV shows and movies, giving you more variety when you want to find something to watch. The second downside is that these packages are more expensive and often less flexible. However, you do get a lot for what you pay, so it’s really up to you whether this is an issue or not.

Streaming Services

As you can already tell from the pros and cons of cable TV, there are numerous positives and negatives of streaming services. The biggest pro is that they’re very affordable. For just a few dollars a month, you can subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, etc. and have access to loads of movies and TV shows. The services are often flexible too, meaning you can cancel your contract at any time without having to pay a get-out clause of any kind. Some people will really benefit from these low costs, particularly students that don’t have a great deal of cash to spare.

You’ll also find a huge variety of shows and movies on these streaming services. They have genres to cater to every taste, and don’t just show the popular films. If you love indie films, or TV shows that go a bit under the radar, then a streaming service is where you’re most likely to find them. They keep updating their catalogues too, so there’s pretty much always going to be something for someone, somewhere. Another thing I personally enjoy is the absence of any commercials or adverts. There’s no intrusion when you watch, just choose what you want to indulge in, and stream it right away!

There are also two main downsides of streaming, but they’re also quite subjective. The first is that they don’t offer anything other than streaming. So, if you like watching live TV, then you won’t find it here – although, saying that, some streaming sites like Amazon are trying to a acquire rights to stream sports live! The second is that you really depend on a good internet connection here. If you have dodgy wifi, then you won’t be able to stream anything in good quality and end up with that horrible buffering symbol on your screen permanently.

Which Is Best For You?

So, have you decided which option is best for you? Of course, some of you are probably thinking; why can’t I have both. You can, but it might be costly for you. Some people are lucky if they’re students and their family home has cable TV paid by their parents, so they can buy a streaming service and get the best of both worlds!

In general, if you’re an avid lover of live TV and like staying up-to-date with the latest shows, then cable TV is the better option for you. If you can afford the price of a package, then it will give you everything you want and more. The great thing is, you can often build your package by choosing the channels you want to pay for, lowering the costs a bit.

But, if you have a very tight budget and don’t care about watching things live, then a subscription service is best for you. You could even be cheeky and pay for one month over Christmas then cancel your contract if you don’t have time to watch a lot of things afterwards.

As you can see, both options have a load of pros and cons that make them ideal for certain types of people. Like I said earlier, neither option is inherently ‘better’ than the other. It all depends on your needs, and I hope you’ve used this guide to figure out which one suits you best of all.

It’s only 2 weeks until Christmas is upon us, and everyone is probably getting into a bit of a mad scramble trying to have everything ready for the big celebrations. Christmas is one of the best times of the year for spending time with the people you love and having fun with your friends.

One of the most popular types of gifts you can get at this time of year is games. Everyone loves a good game during the festive season- but the type of games we are going to talk about today are video games. There are a huge ton of games which are released each year for different ages and consoles- and we’ve narrow it down to give you some of the best ideas for the gamer in your life this year.

Final Fantasy XV

Be the hero of your own adventure in Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire – a game where you can build your kingdom from the ground up, craft and collect items to improve your weapons, feed your men and complete missions for civilians. You will then be tasked with defending the kingdom from evil forces and taking down a whole host of baddies. It’s the perfect game for an adventurer.

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2

Lego games have become a favourite with every age over the past 10 years. Many of you will remember the star wars game and indiana jones which really set lego apart from the rest and catapulted them into video game fame. If you or a family member loves superheroes- this game features the biggest names in the Marvel universe plus some of the less known characters from the original comic books. You’ll be able to fly around, swim, kick butt and have fun fighting the bad guys as a team.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

One of the most anticipated remakes of the year: activision has graced us with the remastered version of crash bandicoot with the original PS1 games brought into the modern day. If your family loved this game when it was out originally then this is the ideal gift for them this christmas.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mario kart is one of those games which can either bring the whole family together or create fast enemies. It is addictive, fun and can turn even the most mellow family member into a competitive monster. Have fun on Christmas day after dinner playing this with the whole family. You might have a few arguments but that’s no different to any normal christmas.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

Pokemon is still going, and the games bring with them whole new universes and loads of new faces each time. If you have a family member who loves Pokemon, let them enjoy playing with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon throughout the christmas period.

Call Of Duty: WWII

Call of duty is one of those franchises which you either love or you hate. In recent years the quality of these games have gone down slightly- however many have said that this new installment brings Call of Duty back to the standards it had when it began back in the day. If you have an army-mad family member, this historically set game will be ideal for them.

FIFA 18

If you have a family member who loves a good game of football, FIFA 18 is the best place to go. You not only have the teams to manage and tournaments to play: there is also a career mode where you play a young footballer finding his way in the world and working his way up to the top.

Assassin’s Creed Origins

Assassin’s creed is one of the most cleverly made games of all time. The franchise is huge and the games proved so popular that they even turned it into a film last year. However, this game in particular is set to be one of the best in the series. You’ll be in ancient Egypt with what we presume is the first assassin.

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Fans of the series have hailed this one of the best games of all time. So if you know someone who loves these types of games, this is one not to miss.

Horizon Zero Dawn

With stunning graphics and a deep story line: this game is one of the most interesting new additions in the last year to the gaming world. If you know someone who loves the wild and hunting for food in games- then this is the best option for you.

How Tech Can Improve Your Life

technology

The world of technology has certainly transformed over the years. And it’s done the same to our lifestyles. The introduction of new technologies only seems to improve that. As things start to grow, enhance, and develop, it’s safe to say that our lifestyles are made easier. Of course, some will always say that the world was better before the technological advances. But, it’s hard to argue with the impact that technology has had on everything from health to education. Because it’s certainly improved these industries, and thus the possibilities and opportunities we’re faced with. But not all advancements are seen on such a large scale. Because tech can certainly improve your life on an everyday basis too.

Access

First of all, the advancements in tech (particular with the internet) have changed our access abilities in such a refreshing way. We literally have access to just about everything we need. We can buy products from the other side of the world and have them with is in days. We can find information in seconds. We can talk to loved ones that are in some of the world’s most remote locations. And that’s always going to improve your life. The only question here is, how will our access opportunities advance?

Improved Fitness

We slightly touched on the idea of technology improving the health industry earlier on. But not only has it aged in advancements within medicine, it continues to improve our everyday health levels too. Just look at fitness apps. By simply downloading a piece of technology to your phone, you can better understand your fitness levels. These apps help you to move more, educate you on how to perform better, and generally give you the nudge you need to stay in shape.

Unknown Future

If we were to start to think too deeply about the idea of life, the unknown could spook you a tad. But you don’t have to let it. In fact, technology also improves the unknown future that we’re looking at. You’ll find that this is better explained on Human Paragon, but the idea of transhumanism is incredible. Alongside the development of robots and even genetic engineering, it’s another mind blowing technology that can change our lives.

Ease Of Living

From here, we have to consider just how technology makes life easier. Some will say it complicated matters, but there are certain aspects of the industry that are impossible to ignore as life-improving accessories. Like smart home devices. With the rise of voice technology and the super clever installations like security, thermostats and even mechanical curtain closures, life is certainly made easier.

Productivity

But it’s not just the personal side of life that technology aids. It can improve us work-wise too. Productivity is something that many of us are obsessed with. But it’s hard to argue that technology hinders it. In fact, it only makes us more productive. With several software as a service (SaaS) products for time management, communication, and even productivity itself, it’s hard not to be your most productive self. And what’s not to love about that?

Tech Health To A New Level With These Gadgets

Your health is one of the most important facets of your life. Without it, there is a possibility you won’t be around to reap the benefits of a fast-paced lifestyle. Of course, busy people don’t exactly have the time to maintain their well-being. Let’s face it – other things are important. Entrepreneurs are trying to make a ton of money while parents are attempting to keep their kids safe. Whoever said always look after number one wasn’t realistic.

Letting your health wash away is a dangerous game, though. So, everyone, even the busiest of the busy, needs to take care of their fitness. Thankfully, it’s 2017, which means there is a piece of technology which can help. In fact, there are five pieces.

Here are the gadgets which will tech your health to another level.

fuel-band
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Nike_FuelBand.jpg

Nike+ FuelBand

Do you remember the time when people used to wear pedometers to track their steps? A FuelBand is a glorified pedometer with a handful of extra features for good measure. About the thickness of a bracelet, the band is full of accelerometers which track movement. Thanks to them, the band can store details on a range of activities, from steps taken to calories burned. In simple terms, it’s a watch (it tells the time) which monitors your activity on a daily basis. Hopefully, by tracking movement and calorie intake, the band will give you a kick up the backside. For those who are not Nike fans, a Fitbit or an Apple watch works in the same way.

Workrave

Work hard, play hard, right? That’s the saying, yet lots of people work hard and forget to make time to play. The office is a vital part of any adult’s life, but there needs to be a balance. Working your body to death is not going to help with things such as stress levels and fatigue. You need to learn to take regular breaks, and Workrave is an app which can help. All you have to do is open the app as soon as you begin the day and wait for an alert. When it pops up on your phone or laptop, it means it’s time to stop for five minutes. It also tells you when to take longer breaks and when to pack up and go home. Eyeleo takes it one step further and focuses on relaxing the eyes.

Sleep Cycle

Your health centers on your sleep patterns. Without the right amount of shuteye, the body can’t refresh after a hard day’s work. According to geeks around the world, the total amount should range from seven to nine hours a night. After you figure out you only get half of this, you also need to work out insomnia is harming your health. The good news is that Sleep Cycle can track your sleep patterns. Through the phone’s microphone, the app analyses sound and movements during the night. Depending on the state of sleep, it will gently rouse you from your slumber to ensure you get enough rest.

hearing-aid

3 Series hearing Aids

There are five senses, yet not all of them work correctly. The one which seems to fade quicker than the rest is hearing. When the ears stop picking up vibrations in the air, it can impact your lifestyle. Try having a conversation with a person who is half deaf and you’ll understand. Of course, there is no reason to go deaf with a hearing aid. In the past, aids were chunky, clunky pieces of tech which looked horrible and needing fixing. Hearing aid repair was part of the game before the advent of new technology. Nowadays, the 3 Series version is sleek and slimline and hardly noticeable. Plus, it incorporates features which enhance the way you watch TV and listen to music. Oh, and it’s waterproof, too.

Strava

Strava is one of the leading apps for tracking physical activity. Whereas a Fitbit monitors small movements, Strava observes distance running and strenuous activity. Do you like to hit the gym or pound the pavement? No, but it’s a necessary evil. The Strava app will inform you of everything from split times to the overall calories burned. Also, thanks to the interactive element, you can gauge your times against other app users. As humans are competitive, there is nothing like scrolling the timesheets. Plus, it adds another element to your workout and keeps you motivated.

If you find your health hard to maintain, technology is the way forward.

Technology and You

technology
Image

We live in a world of technology – there’s no getting around it. Everywhere you turn there is someone staring at their phone, tablet or smartwatch. And where some people might think that the amount of technology we have isn’t a good thing, but tech has seriously revolutionized the way we live our lives.

From the industrial revolution in the late 1800s we gained trains and cars, and due to the world wars, we developed extreme weapons. Where the latter isn’t a good advancement, it has still changed the way we live – without the need to speed up technology for vehicles our cars and planes could be decades behind where they are now. And we might not even have motorbikes in production. The wars also called for better communication, telegrams quickly overtook letters, and the telephone moved inside houses at a rapid pace.

The 1900s saw a boom in technology; the first mobile telephone was invented complete with a battery in a suitcase. Thanks to Thomas Edison, the light bulb quickly replaced gas and candles. Electricity became available in every country, and almost every home. Electric trains connected the world, and cars became a necessity, not a privilege. In the 1990s most adults in the western world had a mobile phone, and every home had at least one phone. Polaroid cameras came in as the stop-gap between film and digital, and walkmen’s shrank in size.

The 2000’s have been no different. We can trace the evolution of phones from our trusty Nokia to the string of iPhones people are compelled to buy. Computers are less of a staple addition to the house and more of an extra to your laptop or Mac. Game consoles occupy space in nearly 50% of homes, and they are constantly getting updated and remodeled. Technology now advances with such speed that something you buy on the launch date will be out of date less than a year later.

Think about the amount of technology you have in your house – your phone, TV – which is probably a smart TV, a game console or two, an iPad or tablet, maybe a kindle, your laptop and maybe a computer as well. And that’s a minimum and common list for your average household. There are some great pieces of technology that improve our daily lives like sunlamps that help wake you up gradually, fitness watches that help you to stay on track with your workouts, and the mere fact that the world is at our fingertips through our phones.

There are, however some amazing advancements in technology that no one could say was a waste.

Hearing Aids

Go back a century and the cure for hearing loss could see you ingesting mercury tablets or catheterizing your nose. Now there is such a wide variety of assistive listening devices it’s crazy. Not only can you get a hearing aid that is nearly invisible, you can also get one to fit babies. You can even have a cochlear implant which will allow people with severe and permanent hearing loss to hear again.

Color Blind Cure

We’ve all seen the videos of people receiving their enchroma glasses and seeing the world in color for the first time. It’s completely fantastic the amount of beauty in this world that regular-sighted people see on a regular basis and take for granted. Just the simple act of a specialized lens can literally brighten up someone’s world.

Laser Eye Treatment

Where there isn’t a cure for blindness, there are so many factors that can cause blindness that is now curable, or at least treatable, through laser eye treatments. And for the visually impaired there is a whole host of technology that is available to them to help them live an ordinary life. There’s a pen that records what you say onto little digital stickers, and you just press the pen to the sticker to play it back. They can be used on cans, recipes, clothes tags – you might be blind, but you can still pick out a gorgeous outfit.

Bionic Limbs

When they made the TV show in the 70s, did they think it would ever become a reality? Because it’s nearly there. Scientists have made a bionic arm that only reacts through mind control, but can relate the sense of touch. People will be able to live their lives to the full, regardless of whether they are missing a limb or two.

Tech Is Taking Away Our Chores And That’s Good…Right?

It seems like everywhere you look these days, there’s a new piece of tech that is taking over a chore that we used to have to complete or a part of our life. Now, this started fairly basically way back with the invention of the washing machine in 1851. But since then it seems like every job that we complete is being replaced by a clever piece of tech. Taking vacuuming as an example. In the past, you would have to take out the vacuum and clean the floor yourself. Now, you might have a rather friendly circular device that can travel along the floor, cleaning it for you. Cool, but it is taking away a job that used to get us off the sofa. And it’s certainly not the only tech that’s stopping us getting off our backsides. Do you want a cup of joe? Don’t get up, log in to an app and connect with your coffee maker to get it started for you. It’s quite scary really because with every piece of tech that takes a job away from us it’s another thing that we don’t have to think about.

You might not think that’s a bad thing, but research strongly suggests that an idle mind could easily lead to dementia. In fact, many experts suggest that we should be keeping our minds as active as possible early on in life all the way into retirement. And to be honest, there is evidence that we won’t need to think all that much anymore, particularly when it’s been predicted AI will be smart than man by 2029. And even if you don’t think that’s a realistic possibility there are other issues with letting tech take over our roles. Let’s look at an example of driving.

Robot Take The Wheel

Of course, it’s not literally a robot driving your autonomous car but a clever piece of software. Now, if a driver crashes into your car tomorrow and it’s their fault, you know what you have to do. You need to speak to someone like Gary Greenberg accident lawyer and get things moving to make sure you get the compensation you deserve. It might be a difficult fight, but with a strong legal mind by your side, you know that the law will work in your favor.

What about if tomorrow a car crashes into you and it’s not being driven by a human at all. What if it was being driven by a piece of software. Now, you might think, wait, an autonomous car wouldn’t crash, but don’t be so sure. There have been numerous cases of this happening so it is interesting to ask what would happen in that situation. The person in the car isn’t at fault, he wasn’t driving. Arguably it’s the company behind the tech that should pay up, but major corporations never want to part with large sums of money. Suddenly you’re facing a far larger uphill battle.

What About The Workforce?

By 2030 Elon Musk believes that we will have no need for the majority of people in the world to work. Teachers? Don’t need them, the software can run a lesson. Writers? No need, the software can produce articles. We certainly won’t need drivers because vehicles will drive themselves and the list goes on. Now this means we’re going to need a universal income and many people just won’t need to work at all.

It’s certainly going to be a brave new world, and perhaps we shouldn’t be so keen for it to arrive.
